Overview of HP CMS v.10.10

Release 10.10 comprises updates to HP Universal CMDB (UCMDB), HP Universal

Discovery (UD), and HP UCMDB Configuration Manager (CM).

Also bundled within the 10.10 release are HP UCMDB Browser version 3.0 and

Content Pack (CP) 13.


10.10 Key Highlights

Support for IPv6 and Common Access Card

60 Million Configuration Items now supported

Content Pack 13 – Virtualization, Networking, SAP, and Storage Enhancements

PPM, Network Automation, and Service Anywhere integrations

Lightweight CMDB – PostgreSQL support

Dynamic Widgets in the UCMDB Browser

New in 10.10 – UCMDB works with PostgreSQL DB

• PostgreSQL is an open source database management system.

• Allows the customer to use the database without any charge as opposed to Oracle and MS SQL server.

• The UCMDB supports PostgreSQL version 9.2 on windows machines only.

• Two types of deployment methods

UCMDB connected to an external DB server

UCMDB embedded with PostgreSQL server

• The embedded deployment option is best suited for relatively small deployments since the UCMDB and the DB reside on the same machine and thus share the same resources.

New in 10.10 – Browser CI Access Control

• Restrict user to subset of data – the user’s world

• Restrictions are on CIs and Relationships

• Allow to use regular Browser functionality over the user’s world

• Supported in UCMDB 10.10 and Browser 3.0 in Single Tenant environment only (for now)

• Permissions can be set based on CI types, Views, widgets.

• Permissions are set via the Admin UI

• Searching for “All Business Applications” will only return the Business Applications relevant for this Business Service

Browser 3.0 – Dynamic Widgets (Define)

• Customers can define widgets

that will appear in the UCMDB

similar to defining a view in

the UCMDB

• The administrator can select

which attributes should

appear in the preview mode

• Setting up notifications is personalized, so each user can get different notifications

• Categorization is used to group

CIs, and then access those CIs in

a straightforward manner.

• Searches can be done based on

categories

• Users can enhance the category

definitions based on their needs


You can now include a specific customer icon and name with restrictive messaging

Licensing in 10.10

• 10.10 version requires new license keys and cannot use the keys from former versions

• OOTB, users get a non-production license valid for 21 days with a large allocation of

LTUs

• License is enforced in this version

• Enables the sharing of information from HP UCMDB with HP PPM

• Automates the creation and updates of applications within HP PPM

• Ensures HP PPM is up to date with real, accurate, and discovered data

• Enterprise-class solution to track and regulate configuration changes across routers, switches, firewalls,

load balancers, and wireless access points

• With HP NA Server’s Java Client Library, UCMDB runs predefined commands and retrieves network topology

MS SQL Server Stored Procedures • The existing MS SQL Server discovery adapter has

been enhanced to support discovery of stored procedures

SSL Certificates Discovery • Discovery of SSL Certificates that

comply with the X.509 standard

• User can understand what certificates are expiring soon, and ensure applications keep running without disruption
