What’s news?... Adelaide Women’s Prison Site Works

Department of Planning, Transport & Infrastructure

Site preparatory works for two new transportable buildings within the Adelaide

Women’s Prison complex. The project scope includes demolition, site preparation

including cut to fill and cut to spoil offsite, services (hydraulic, power and drainage),

concrete access stairs and perimeter ramps for the new transportable buildings. This

project required coordination with the Prison staff on a daily basis as all works were

within the secure zone. Significant additional works to construct retaining walls and

hand railing were undertaken with little extension to the contract duration. DPTI had

engaged EMAC Systembuilt Homes to construct the transportable buildings offsite

and then deliver and crane into position. This was separate to our site works contract.

Careful planning and coordination with EMAC was required to ensure there were no

interfacing issues once the buildings were landed.

Aldi Woodcroft

21st Century Developments

Camco have been engaged in the

construction of an external loading

dock and roof mounted plant

platform for the new ALDI

Supermarket located at the

Woodcroft Shopping Centre. The

loading dock was built with a

combination of in-situ and pre-cast

concrete and comprises an

automated dock leveller, panel lift

door and structural steel canopy.

The plant platform required

penetrations through the existing

roof, installation of an access

ladder with walkway system and

steel decking.

Don’t forget to check out our

website www.camco.com.au for

other recently completed projects.

Verdun Water Main Upgrade

SA Water

Camco were engaged to complete a partially construct-

ed water main upgrade on Onkaparinga Valley Road,

Verdun. The project scope included the installation of

280m of 375mm mPVC main, pressure testing of over 3km

of new main and 5 link-ins to the existing mains.

The first task on this project was to investigate what had

actually been completed as part of the previous works

due to the “As Constructed” information being very

limited. During this investigation, it was determined that

additional works and materials would be required due to

the pipework configuration found during pot holing.

Camco acted promptly to ensure the schedule was

maintained and all work completed to the highest quality

standards.

Freda Thompson Left Turn Exit, Parafield Airport

Adelaide Airport Limited

The construction of a new turn-in lane from Main North Road into the Parafield Airport

business district. The project scope included demolition, earthwork, storm-

water drainage, an upgrade to DPTI lighting, concrete works and deep lift granular

pavement construction. 80% of the project was constructed behind concrete road

barriers which allowed for the normal flow of traffic during most of the construction

phase. Good lines of communica-

tion between Adelaide Airport

Limited, DPTI and the business

owners located on the corner of

Main North Road and Freda

Thompson Place was maintained

resulting in minimal disruption to

traffic entering the existing turn right

into Freda Thompson Place allowing

them to frequent the local

businesses with out inconvenience.

What’s news?...
