28 Cinema is the biggest cinema theater in the republic in terms of seats. The theater

features six cinema halls which enable to diversify its programme to the maximum extent.

Originally commissioned in 1934, the building of the “Nizami” cinema has been

reconstructed in accordance with the Order of the President “On the development of

cinema in Azerbaijan”. There are two halls with 50 and 80 seats on the first floor of the

cinema, a big cinema hall with 500 seats on the second and a VIP hall with 24 seats on the

fifth.

National Museum of History of Azerbaijan is one of the biggest museums of Transcaucasia and has a leading

position in Azerbaijan regarding collection and protective storage of millennial cultural heritage of Azerbaijani

people and its history. In the treasuries of the museum stored several hundreds of thousands of exhibits – jewelry

and relief work, carpets and coins, national costume and embroidery, ceramics, bronze and weaponry…

The total number of museum pieces exceeds 300 000 stored items. 20 000 of them are on display, the rest is kept in

the scientific funds – numismatic (over 150 000), archeological (93 000), ethnographical (9 000), weaponry (2

300), scientific archive (12 000), precious metals fund (15 000), negative (10 000), fund of rare books (4 570).

The museum has the Academic Council and library (over 100 000 books), there is also the expert commission on

reception and acquisition of museum pieces.
