...as we work toward a stronger community for dance!

You help us to nurture the next generation and continue to build a rich community of support for dance. We have set strategic intentions for the next several years that focus our attention on deepening community connections and creating a space where ALL people can see themselves reflected in our programming and infrastructure!

Thanks to your support, we were able to fulfill our mission to cultivate the field of modern dance in North Carolina, nurturing a community of artists, audiences, and students by providing opportunities for training, performance, collaboration, and employment.

Artistic DevelopmentThe Festival celebrated its 28th season of presenting professional modern and contemporary dance from NC choreographers, supporting their work and strengthening relationships between the artists.

Artists in ResidenceIn an effort to further nurture NC choreographers and support the development of high-quality dance work, we continued an Artist in Residence program, granting local choreographers free rehearsal space, and a chance to share their work.

Community PresenceDance Project operates a Community Outreach program that provides affordable access to dance, a powerful tool for self-expression, social action, and community-building.

Community EngagementWe continue to look for ways to get the community moving through free classes in LeBauer Park, performances, and our annual Dance Marathon, a 12 hour dance party!

Student ImpactIn the School at City Arts, the next generation of dancers develop creativity, confidence, and connection along with dance technique. Our highly-trained and caring teachers make this possible.

New PartnershipsWe are excited about the future possibilities emerging from our new partnerships with community groups like Triad Arts Accessibility Group, Proxemic Media in Durham, and multiple research studies on the effects of dance on the aging brain.

In the past year...

Looking to the future...

You make it all possible!
