WHAT THE HUMANITIES CONTRIBUTE TO THE UNIVERSITY
AUGUST 21-23, 2017VRIJE UNIVERSITEIT AMSTERDAM
The theme of the seminar is the epistemic status and relevance of the humanities. On the one hand, it is widely felt that the humanities have something valuable to offer: wisdom, certain sorts of insights, a sense of value and meaning. On the other hand, there is a lot of critism on the value of the humanities.
