• Economics• Business Studies• Geography• Physics• Biology• Chemistry• Maths

But you may have not considered A-Level maths because:

• It doesn’t seem relevant to your other options

• You have heard it’s ‘all algebra’

If you have considered A-Level Maths as a ‘fourth option’ only to do over one year or haven’t considered maths at

‘It is essential that students keep up their maths skills but clearly A-level and AS-level mathematics aren’t for everybody. The Core Maths qualification gives students the opportunity to maintain and develop everyday maths skills that will be really useful to them both at university and when they start work.’ Dr Deidre Hughes OBE, chair of the National Careers Council, England

Finally• Core Maths is already recognised by Universities

• Your application to University or a Workplace will be stronger if it is supported by a Maths Qualification

• In the UK currently only 20% of students study maths further than GCSE – this will put you at an advantage

• We are the only Birmingham Comprehensive sixth form to offer this qualification, so you are at an advantage for university places compared to schools in the area
