In short…LOCAL is a digital marketplace for pubs, bars, restaurants and independent merchants offering web and app based ordering, without any up-front or fixed charges

What it doesLOCAL offers a free and easy route for hospitality businesses to connect with consumers, facilitating Delivery, Click & Collect and Table Service transactions.

Table Service is going to be critical when it comes to facilitating trading in a post-lockdown, still socially distanced, future.

LOCAL is a portal for orders and payments, it does not come with any support for delivery, but you can use the LOCAL platform to manage deliveries if you’re making them.

Any site can use it. Businesses do not need to be supplied by a C&C Group company. This allows you to talk to anyone looking to increase potential sales during and after this crisis.

Almost half (48%) of those who typically drink out weekly find

ordering drinks for delivery appealing

3 in 5 consumers are currently or planning to order food for delivery

1/3 of consumers combine food delivery

with drinks and 1 in 10 would order

drinks alone

The On Trade must therefore consider how best to deliver a drinking and dining experience at home

What options are available?LOCAL is the only app offering three types of transaction. A site can offer any combination of these three options at no extra cost.

Table Service

Allows on-site consumers to place orders, pay, and either have their order delivered to their table or be notified to collect. Enabling social distancing to be maintained once lockdowns have been eased.

Table & Room ordering

Under Social Distancing, staff and customers should not crowd together at the bar. If the site is using LOCAL, they won’t have to.

Using LOCAL, customers can sit and place orders & pay through the app, wherever they are.

The bar/kitchen will see the order instantly and can either bring the order over or lay it out for collection, minimising risk to staff and customers.

The ability to offer Table or Room ordering, with truly contactless payment, is critical to the future success of the On Trade.

Thinking of setting up your own platform?

Development is incredibly expensive and consumers don’t want to download a different app for every place they go – if a site is on LOCAL, it makes things easier for the site and for consumers.

Beyond COVID-19

LOCAL offers so many more advantages to each site:

No more need to manage tabs – everyone can buy their own round through the app.

Manage pre-orders for parties or large groups.

Allow people to buy drinks for friends and family or after work when they can’t be there in person.

Manage and serve orders in sequence – no more aggressive bar behaviour.

Be more efficient by having more staff serving and less taking orders.

Example uses

Not just foodPre-lockdown Vodka Wodka in Hillhead, Glasgow, served Italian fast food, burgers, over 70 vodkas, and a large range of cocktails.

On LOCAL they’ve focused purely on delivering pre-mixed cocktails, spirit bottles and bagged ice. They’ve set up different delivery fees and delivery times for different areas of Glasgow, allowing them to easily plan deliveries.

“The LOCAL App has been amazing to allow us to set up a delivery shop on behalf of Vodka Wodka in less than 2 hours.

We can deliver cocktails to different areas in Glasgow or create a build time to give us a buffer and different delivery fees, control delivery time, and add virtually any item on by taking a photo and putting in the details. Each item only takes a couple of minutes.

We sold over 600 cocktails in the first weekend and are looking forward to our first full week of business”
