Grade level teams will support students’ success by engaging students in the classroom and by connecting with families in some of the following ways:

• Practice literacy comprehension strategies by citing text evidence throughout all content areas

• Practicing math fluency skills on Moby Max or with flashcards

• Integrating technology into Math and Literacy lessons through the use of iPads, ACTIV boards.

• Instructing leveled reading groups to personalize learning for each student according to their strengths and needs

• Facilitating reading and math learning stations that are full of resources to extend thinking and reinforce standards

• Teaching  mathematical practices of building models and explaining their thinking behind the solution

At ECW, our goal is to increase students’ reading and math skills.  We will do that by…

• Providing parents with strategies by grade level during parent workshops and in newsletters.

• Providing families with access to websites and resources such as Moby Max, flash cards, and reading websites that can be practiced at home.

• Providing parents and families with opportunities to give teachers feedback through homework surveys about their child’s strengths and weaknesses in completing assignments.

• Providing opportunities for parents to view student work and evidence of their achievements and review the standards at curriculum nights for both Humanities and STEM.

• Providing activities that use math strategies in daily real world problem solving such as in cooking, construction and money management.
