It now has a million members around the world with 110,000 and rising rapidly in Europe, Middle East and Africa. As well as joining the national H.O.G. ® organisation, members have the option to join their local H.O.G. Chapter also. Each Chapter is sponsored by the local Harley-Davidson ® dealer, allowing a ‘close to the customer’ approach and the opportunity for H.O.G. members to meet fellow enthusiasts, as well as to participate in all the numerous Chapter activities. Most Chapters hold monthly meetings, organise regular recreational and touring rides and participate in fund-raising activities. The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign has been the charity of choice since H.O.G.’s inception, but most Chapters raise funds for a variety of local community needs by a variety of methods, including fund-raising rallies and Toy Runs. Chapters are invited to join in friendly competition with each other at national and international H.O.G. rallies and events. There are currently around 1,500 H.O.G. Chapters around the globe. To recognise and encourage the increasing role played by women in the world of Harley ® , female enthusiasts can become members of Ladies of Harley™ (LOH). There is no additional charge to join Ladies of Harley. Recognising its members as true travellers, if a H.O.G. ® member travels to practically any major city they can rent a Harley-Davidson ® on a daily or weekly basis under the Authorized Rentals schemes. Some H.O.G. benefits available to European members mirror those offered by the major auto clubs, such as the comprehensive H.O.G. Assistance recovery scheme for H.O.G. members motorcycles anywhere in Europe (additional charge applies). There are also special insurance and finance schemes for H.O.G. members (not applicable in all countries). EMEA members also have preferential access to goods and services such as hotel and ferry bookings. H.O.G. is constantly seeking new benefits and is frequently able to offer discounts on useful products and services through the magazine HOG ® . In 2012 H.O.G. organised many major events throughout Europe, including European Bike Week ® in Austria; Touring Rides in France, Spain, Germany and many more countries; Harley-Davidson Euro Festival at Grimaud, Golfe de St-Tropez; and the year’s flagship event, the European H.O.G. ® Rally at Cascais, Portugal. Interspersed with the national and international events, there are many Chapter Rallies throughout Europe and most Chapters have a full calendar of events, ride-outs and meetings. This year Grimaud, Golfe de St-Tropez hosts the Harley-Davidson Euro Festival as H.O.G.’s 30th birthday celebrations. Then we move to Rome for the European celebrations for the 110th Anniversary of Harley-Davidson. To be a full member of H.O.G. you must own a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Membership for one year is included in the purchase of a new motorcycle; otherwise there is a 73 Euros (£53) fee for new memberships and renewals. Associate members – regular passengers or family members of a full H.O.G. member – can obtain most of the benefits of full H.O.G. membership, excluding the bi-monthly mailings, for 37 Euros (£29) per year. It was created to enhance the experience of owning a Harley-Davidson ® motorcycle by offering access to a host of benefits and services associated with ownership of the world’s most famous motorcycle.
