WHAT IS DOPPLER EFFECT?

When fire trucks or police cars are rushing they put on their sirens. When you are close to the police car or fire truck their sirens are really loud but when you are further from the police car or fire truck then you can’t hear as clearly.

If you are closer to the source of sound then the sound waves are shorter so you can hear better and more clearly. But when your further away from the sound source (then the other person) then the sound waves are longer so you can’t hear as clearly as the other person that’s closer to the sound source.

HOW DOES THIS RELATE TO MUSIC?

When we play our instruments (violin, trumpet, saxophone etc.) in orchestra we hear all of the sound through sound waves.
