Objectives
Create awareness by exposing related problems
of children & parents through mass-media
Create awareness of the traumatic effects faced by children & parent thru discussions & counseling
Create awareness amongst Legal profession & related of bodies on such negative effects
Create awareness on Parental Responsibility
Early Intervention Project – Panel to guide
both party intending divorce – finance,
upbringing, education, welfare etc.
Aims
To highlight the seriousness of Parental Alienation, Domestic Violence & Custody Disputes and Abuses
To help identify with the Victims - not only children
but parent(s) too. Effects - mental trauma, lack of interest in social & physical activities deterioration in studies and the victims losing self esteem
Promote – family activities values together & children
to have good amount of time parents
Review & Propose Reform
Short Term Goals
Create awareness thru press, publish articles issues involving domestic violence, children & families displaced by custody disputes
Dialogue with relevant agencies PDRM, JKMM Judiciary, Bar Council & AG’s chambers and Chief Justice to the implementation of an Early Intervention system
To setup networks with members in all states
and to network with similar groups locally & internationally
Medium to Long Term
To lobby the govt & relevant agencies to look at ways overcome the negative effects of parental alienation, domestic violence & custody disputes
To lobby Parliamentarians & policymakers to review and enforce relevant sections in the Law on Domestic Violence & Custody Disputes
To work towards achieving a Caring Society
Domestic Violence
A pattern of behavior where one maintains controlof the other through physical force, intimidation or threats
This abuse can take many forms
Physical - Kicking, punching, shoving, slapping, pushing, burning, biting, choking, kicking, throwing or hurling objects
Sexual - Forced or pressured sexual acts, criticizing his/her body parts & rape
Verbal - Name Calling & Put-downs Emotional - Jealousy, Crazy Making Mind Games, Isolation from
friends & family, making victim feel worthless Spiritual – Attacking the victim’s spiritual beliefs Financial - Controlling the victim’s economic status, withholding
money & prohibiting the victim to work Destructive - Destruction of property, vandalism & causing harm Immigration – Using fear of deportation
