What is dialysis?

Dialysis is a treatment for people in the later stage of chronic renal insufficiency (kidney failure).

This treatment cleans the blood and removes wastes and excess water from the body.

Normally, this work is done by healthy kidneys.

While developing test strips for use in dialysis centers, I met with dialysis clinic staff who use test strips.

The staff members are special people indeed. They work as a team to provide dialysis to people with End Stage Renal Disease.

TEST STRIPS are small plastic sticks coated at one end with chemicals. They are now found in nearly every dialysis clinic.

A user touches the coated end to a sample and compares the color with a color chart on the bottle label to get an assay result.

Test strips are easy to use. 

Be sure dialysis staff members know all about the test strips they use.

An incorrect response to a surveyor's question on test strips can be Trouble.

Regular follow-up remote or in-service training can avoid audit Trouble.
