What do you do as an engineer/scientist? I build puzzles. As an IT architect, I pick up the different IBM pieces to build a solution for IBMs customers. I have to investigate the problem, understand the scope of the problem, and understand all of the pieces and how they work together.

How do you use your technical training and/or degree today? How has it helped you?

I use mathematics for performance analysis. The important thing in this career is learning how to think. Technology careers require a methodical problem-solving method. University and career training has taught me how to solve the problems for IBMs customers. It is learning how to think.

What do you find most satisfying about your work?

I am most satisfied when I have a solution in my hands and the problem is solved when the solution works well. An added bonus is when the customer is happy with the solution. It is satisfying to be part of the customer solution and have the customer insight. I am part of the innovation component of the solution.

There is another area of my work that I have a special love for. It is to take care of the technical teams. I have the opportunity to help others to grow and to [position] the technical community into a higher position. To give back some of your experience and knowledge [to others] is so positive.

I have been working with different teams during my career. I am not happy and valued if I work alone. I need the team to discuss and verify decisions and problems. Belonging to a team is one of the strong feelings that help you to achieve your goals. My work provides this satisfying feeling.
