EDITORIAL- FROM CEO’S DESK

Dear Partners, Colleagues and Readers,

The second Quarter was a major inflection point in Council’s journey. Global HR Heads of 4 of the largest Pharma companies in India—Sun, Cipla, Lupin and Zydus— were inducted into the Governing Body of the Council. With Dr Reddy’s Lab already well represented through our Chairman, Mr Satish Reddy, the biggest employers are now on our GB. This is a reflection of the trust reposed by top employers in the activities of LSSSDC and will serve to further deepen our already strong connect with these employers, and other ‘majors’. The Council wishes to thank the top management of the ‘majors’, and will do all possible to meet their expectations.

The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) formally announced introduction of LSSSDC skilling modules in B. Pharma. curriculum, through a circular issued to all Pharmacy institutions in the country. This is another step forward in bringing the worlds of Industry and Academia in Life Sciences closer together, and expected to be a major game changer in ‘skill advancement’. Our sincere thanks to Dr B. Suresh, President PCI, for his continued support.

LSSSDC made further in-roads in leveraging ‘on line’ and virtual space—with new launches of E modules, on line TTT/TOA training, and RPL—through introduction of “Parakh se Pehchan” initiative, and virtual placement drives.

Government launched the ‘Skills Strengthening for Industrial Value Enhancement (STRIVE)’ project, funded by World Bank, and aimed at skill enhancement in MSMEs in major clusters, and with Industry Associations as key players. This received strong support from Associations partnering LSSSDC—IDMA, BDMA, FOPE, ABLE, ACRO, KDPMA. As many as 7 applications were submitted across as many major clusters. Award is awaited. Alongside, DBT launched a drive to induct further colleges across India under its ‘Skill Vigyan’ program, which aided by webinars conducted by LSSSDC, received strong support with well over 150 institutions submitting applications.

In order to meet requests from Academia and Industry to guide them and provide support with skilling, the Council successfully launched Academia and Industry support initiatives, as also a specific Apprenticeship support program. Organisations and institutions can avail of these by reaching out to the Council which will provide end-to-end support and solutions.

Sincerely,

Ranjit Madan
