The WHA board of directors convened the first of May to discuss upcoming events this year,

rule changes, and sponsorships. High lights of the meeting are as follows:

The 2011 State Sale was discussed. The board is in the process of reviewing how the saleis paid out, possible rule changes for 2012, the number of bulls in the sale, a presale

parade, and the screening process. An open forum meeting will be held Sunday, August

14th, at Wisconsin State Fair Park to get members input on how to improve and enhance

    the sale.

Appointed to represent the WHA on the Wisconsin Cattlemens board were SondraBrancel and Kermit Rhiner.

Plans for the 2011 Ultimate Calf Sale were laid out. The sale was moved to Sunday,October 23rd, to avoid a conflict with the AHA Annual Meeting and the American Royal

in Kansas City the last weekend in October. Entry fees for steer calves was raised from

$25 to $50. There was one rule change. For the 2011 sale and 2012 show, only calves

that are sold through the sale ring that day will be eligible for the Ultimate Steer Class at

    Jefferson.

Entry forms for the 2011 Ultimate Steer Class, which will be held June 11th, at the WLBASpring Preview Show in Jefferson, will be mailed out in midMay. If you do not receive

an entry, contact Holly Paulson at (608) 8739590 or Kermit Rhiner (608) 4451279.

Any junior needing an entry form for the Hereford Jackpot Steer Class at the WisconsinState Fair junior show needs to contact Kermit at (608) 4451279.

Mark down Saturday, February 11, 2012 as the date for the 2012 annual meeting, which will be held in conjunction with the WCA Winter Conference.

The WHA board designated a $1,000 donation to the Wisconsin Juniors for theirRegional Show, which will be held the last weekend in June. The juniors are to use the

donation as best fits their needs for the event.

The WHA board also held a discussion on the $1,000 donation to the World Beef Expo,as voted on by the membership at the annual meeting. The board has designated that

the donation be used to sponsor junior premiums at the 2011 WBE. The board also

discussed at length premiums for the open show. Letters will be sent to neighboring

states asking for cosponsorship of these premiums, as well as encouraging participation

    in WBE shows and sales.

The board will convene again at Wisconsin State Fair on August 14 th.
