BELIEVE IN THE WOOD! MIKEY FELTY RUNS FOR AN EAGLE TOUCHDOWN LAST FRIDAY AGAINST PAINTSVILLE PHOTO PROVIDED BY: Doug Cambell -Raceland (3-4) held leading state rusher Caleb Pope to only 74 yards rushing last week. Fast fact about Raceland... October 14th, 2011 Same Ole Song and Dance Westwood--There was nothing different about Fairview’s win over Paintsville than the other games the Eagles have played previously on the course of the season. It was a blow out, 58-14, the junior varsity played a good proportion of the game, and the ‘’Wood’’ celebrated yet another victory. With this ‘’weak’’ schedule, one thing can be sure, they are getting the job done. The first quarter was probably the most impressive one this far. The running game got it done almost instantly, Chris Brewer had a 34 yard run, and Chris Littlejohn got to pay dirt on a 53 run. The next Paintsville drive ended as soon as it started as Cody Thompson got the safety from the 1 yard line. Littlejohn punched it in for another touchdown on the next Fairview drive after strong runs from both Brewer and Turner. The 20 yard score made it 16-0, early in the 1st quarter. The romp continued with a Turner 19 yard score on the next drive, and a Ty Lowe to Mikey Felty touchdown of 80 yards to make the score 30-0. The impressive running game has made the passing game that much easier as it gives the Eagle chances like this to cash in on the defense’s concentration on stopping the run. At the end of the huge 1st quarter, which seen a running clock, the score was 45-0 and Brewer had 2 touchdowns, Littlejohn with 2, and Turner had a touchdown run. There were also 2 Lowe to Felty touchdowns. Brewer tacked on a touchdown run in the second quarter, but after that the vasity was done. Fairview’s JV scored one touchdown on a Cody Stone run. Paintville got on the board as soon as the 2nd half started with a 92 yard return for a touchdown. Along with the return, Fannin tacked on a running touchdown in the 4th qaurter to make the game’s final score 58-14. With everybody talking about their lack of strength on the schedule, Fairview looks to quiet the talks by defeating the arch rivals, the Raceland Rams in which may be one of the best small school rivalries in the state of Kentucky. The Rams are coming off a romping of Nicholas County. Raceland (3-4) have played state ranked, Ashland and Pikeville. They only lost by 1 point at Pikeville and only lost by 2 points to a country strong Lawrence County team. So, they are no stranger to good competition. Some say the opposite about Fairview’s opponents this season. Raceland will have to complete a task, nobody has done this season, stop the Eagle running game. Chris Brewer has piled up 951. The other running stars, Littlejohn and Turner have a combined total of 1,110 yards. The total touchdowns from the run is 30. Fairivew doesn’t throw it a lot, but when they do its been efficient, Ty Lowe has 847 yards passing and 11 touchdowns with only 1 interception. Whoever wins this rivalry game will be on the gravy train in class A district 7. The ‘’Wood’’ fans are more than likely to make the trip down 23 and create a unique atmosphere that couldn’t be brought on by nothing else than some small town rivalry gridiron action. Needless to say, they’ll witness a good one. Tyler Adkins

Westwood--There was nothing different about Fairview’s win over Paintsville than the other games the Eagles have played previously on the course of the season.
