We’re pleased to provide you with RUSH stickers to designate orders requiring immediate processing for same-day service. When you place these stickers on the outside of a FedEx shipping package, we know to open the package � rst to ensure that the order gets into production as quickly as possible the day it’s received. However, if the sticker is inside the box or if “RUSH” is only noted on the order form, we may not know about it until it’s too late for same-day production. So, please be sure to place the stickers on the outside of the shipping package or simply write RUSH on the package.

Many order forms come into our lab with a request that we ship by a speci� ed date. This does not in and of itself constitute a rush and we need to know that you know there is a charge for having to expedite or rush your order. Please help us by stating clearly that you authorize rush charges to get your order out the door in time.

MVP (Mini Vent Plug) sizes SAV (Select A Vent) sizes

Whether to shape the sound of a hearing instrument or just relieve outer ear pressure, custom earpiece venting is a great tool to help achieve successful � ttings. Venting typically a� ects frequencies below 1000 Hz and in general, the larger the vent, the more low frequency energy or ampli� cation is allowed out of the ear.

Westone o� ers many di� erent earpiece venting options. These options range from “no vent” to “largest vent possible,” with several sizes in between. When selecting the desired venting, please consider your patient’s acoustic needs both now and in the foreseeable future.If unsure about the appropriate vent size, we recommend using the Mini Vent Plug (MVP) or (space permitting) the slightly larger Select-A-Vent (SAV). Both of these variable vent systems include six insert plugs (grommets), which e� ectively “down-size” the vent bore (refer to charts for speci� cs). The MVP is the better cosmetic option as it is slightly smaller and sits more � ush in the earpiece. Its smaller size also allows it to � t into a greater number of earpieces. The SAV has a slightly larger vent bore with virtually no acoustic di� erence and is not as cosmet-ically appealing because of the retaining lip/outer ring of the insert plug. If you order the SAV and we cannot � t it into the earpiece, the MVP will be substituted whenever possible.

Unless you’re � tting the most profound hearing loss with very high gain requirements, Westone recommends ordering at least a small pressure vent to relieve outer ear pressure and allow air� ow into the ear canal.

We default to parallel venting, but if a parallel vent is not possible due to the limited space of a small ear canal, we will instead provide an angle vent.

When considering venting, please keep our remake policy in mind. If you do not order a vent on a custom earpiece and later decide that one is required, simply send the earpiece(s), and if space allows, we will add a vent/vent system for a small charge plus shipping. However, if you request that we “remake” the earpiece(s) with a vent/vent sys-tem, there will be new earpiece charge(s) plus shipping. Dillon’s friend Lucy (a Golden Retriever) just moved back into the neighborhood after Lucy’s family rebuilt their home that was destroyed in last year’s Waldo Canyon wild� re. “Dillon” is putting together a welcome home dog treat and chew toy bag for Lucy - hopefully we can get it to Lucy before the treats mysteriously disappear!
