Term 4 Week 2 22nd October 2019
PBL Focus of the Week: Mac Badges
Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members,
Kindergarten Expo
This Wednesday, 23rd October Weston Public School will be holding our annual
Kindergarten Expo for families of children attending our school next year. The
expo will start at 9:30am and families will have the opportunity to visit a number
of stalls displaying a range of businesses and agencies from both within our
school and our community. Families will also meet staff members who will play
an intricate role in their child’s first year at Primary School. We look forward to
meeting everyone and welcoming you all into the Weston Public School
community.
Mac Badges
Over the course of the term students who have successfully completed their Mac
Contracts and who have received a letter of confirmation will be presented with
their Mac Badges. The first lot of badges were presented to Eagles, Lorikeets and
Emus yesterday. Congratulations to all those students who received theirs. Our
next PBL assembly is Monday, 4th November. During this assembly students from
Parrots and Pelicans who have fulfilled the criteria above will be presented with
their badges.
Transitioning to W.P.S
Students have recently taken home the Term 4 calendar which identifies the days
and week transitions are happening at W.P.S. These transitions will be for both
our new Kindergarten students and for those new students coming across from
Stanford Merthyr.
Students transitioning will be involved in a number of activities each Wednesday
afternoon starting from Wednesday Week 3 (October 30th) to Week 6
(November 20th). These transitions will start at 2:30pm and conclude at 3:05pm.
During this time parent sessions will also be held in the hall to inform parents of
our school’s programs, structures and practices.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our school.
Mrs R. Callinan (Principal)
Head Lice Please remember that Monday night is ‘Hair Check Night’. We need to be vigilant with this practice to prevent the spreading of head lice.
Kiss and Leave Please remember we are a ‘Kiss & Drop Off’ School. We encourage you to drop your children off at the school gate without entering the grounds unless you need to go to the office.
GABC
Tomorrow is the final day that payment can be made for the GABC. Final numbers need to be sent to the GABC so they can organise accommodation and activities. We are so excited to be able to give students this experience and thank you all for your support in encouraging them to attend.
Kurri Kurri Community Festival
Mrs Dickson and Miss Campbell have been working very hard with our dancers in the lead up to their performance at the Kurri Kurri Community Festival. This year the students will be meeting at the giant Kookaburra at Rotary Park, Kurri Kurri on Saturday, 26th October. Students will meet Mrs Dickson and Miss Campbell at 10:40am to perform at 11am. We wish you all the best of luck!
Term 4 Calendar
Term 4 is always the busiest term for events,
assemblies and celebrations. Students have taken
home a Term 4 calendar to assist parents, family and
friends in organising their time to allow them to
attend as many activities as possible. We hope to see
our beautiful Weston Community at many of these
events including our inaugural Christmas Afternoon.
Start Smart
This Thursday and Friday students will be engaged in an exciting program designed to develop their financial literacy skills. Research indicates that it is crucial to develop financial literacy skills from an early age. The Start Smart Primary program teaches these skills in a way that students can understand and enjoy and we hope our students can share and apply with you what they learn.
After School Sport
After School Sport will be on again this term. The first lesson started last Thursday and runs through to Week 3 Term 4. Students who have been accepted have been notified. The after school sport starts at 3:15 and finishes at 4:15. Please be prompt when picking up your child or ensure they have permission to travel home independently.

This Friday, 25th October we acknowledge the hard
work and dedication made by teachers at W.P.S and
around the globe. Every day teachers are making a
positive difference – creating opportunities for
students, empowering minds of young people and
proudly teaching our country’s future leaders,
innovators and influencers. We thank you for
