Sincerely,

Randall Reid-Smith, Commissioner West Virginia Division of Culture and History

1

For the next three days, you will find yourself in the midst of people who are all, like you, involved in and challenged by theater. Whether you are a writer, a performer or a stage designer, you play an important role in the arts in your school, your community and our state. I hope that while you are here you take advantage of every minute to learn more about your art and the other students who are here.

The West Virginia Division of Culture and History has a strong commitment to recognize and feature the arts, heritage and culture of our state and to showcase the fine artists, artisans and historians whose work makes a difference in West Virginia.

It is just as important that we provide new artists with a place where they can learn and grow. The energy at events like this one, our annual Dance Festi-val and the West Virginia State History Bowl speaks volumes for our future. Whether you go on to a professional career in theater, participate in community theater or find yourself an enthusiastic arts supporter, you will always make a difference in arts in West Virginia.

Enjoy the workshops and the performances. If you have time, please visit the West Virginia State Museum and enjoy the art exhibits throughout the Culture Center. Greenbrier St.
