WEST DEPTFORD HIGH SCHOOL EAGLE NEWS – September 22, 2017 Last week we practiced our first Evacuation Drill and Fire Drill of the 20172018 school year. I would like to thank our staff and students for the efficient, mannerly and patient execution of our drill. We practice so that we will get it right if there were ever a real situation. Our school safety is our number one priority. We all need to do what is expected by following directions and being good citizens for all of us to be safe. As we begin the school year with activities and sporting events, this is a good time to talk about what being a good WDHS, and world citizen means. It means being respectful and positive as you support our sports teams and students. It means acting in a manner that positively reflects the values of the West Deptford High School community. Simply put, it means acting in a manner that would make mindful and ethical people proud. Here are some reminders for tonight, and all games that take place on our fields! Students are not permitted in the building during games, and all students are expected to enter the game through the student entrance. Students are not permitted on the grass fields behind the visitor bleachers. Please be sure to tell your middle school friends this, too. Students found wondering the fields could be removed from the game. Students that ride their bikes to school and afterschool events should be mindful of cars pulling in and out in our parking lot. If students are fooling around on their bikes on our school property, school discipline can occur or police contacted. Please be careful and safe. School rules always apply at all of our events! Our Eagles Nest has the best student section around. Let’s continue this tradition by continuing the respectful and positive support of our West Deptford teams and students. ‐‐Dr. Gismondi GUIDANCE NEWS: Parents and students are encouraged to check their Powerparent account frequently to keep an eye on how they are doing in classes. Zeros for missed assignments is the fastest way to sink a strong average! So keep up with your work! Over 30 colleges, universities, and trade schools will be visiting WDHS this fall. Juniors and Seniors can sign up to attend several of these presentations based on their future plans and interests. Students must use their Naviance accounts to sign up and to print their pass to attend. Seniors are reminded to turn in their Transcript Release Form ASAP. Rowan College at Gloucester County will be here on October 27 th to meet with seniors who plan to apply.
