"How do you envision applying this Strategic Direction to your work activities?"
Approach teaching with the consideration of assessment and metrics.
Strategic Direction 1 ‐ Dedication to Learning∙ Academic advisement

∙ Develop a Learning Center for faculty, staff and administrators to utilize off campus and via the

Additional classes would be most helpful, as well.
Bring about learning assistance to basic math and writing. This creates major student improvements
before signing for science classes.
Build relationships with universities for access to resources
Can the Foundation provide connections to business, industry, alumni that students and departments can
utilize for their benefit.
Coming to work ready to share my knowledge and expertise with students and other department but still
being open to learn and improve

Continue on‐campus orientations

How can Foundation mini‐grants to faculty and staff enhance their ability to do their job better?
I want to work on aligning the required syllabus with my dedication to teaching the subject areas so it’s a
win‐win for me and the students and the department!
It is important to determine the varying student success rates for different term lengths & modes (online/
hybrid)
Keeping current on areas of teaching, campus events, activities
More studies, more training.
Online tutorials and research guides students can access.
Provide various opportunities; thereby given practice to mastery as a true means to an end … effective

The number of students in over‐enrolled classes indicates there should be more classes. The offerings
need to expand.
Treat students as individuals, and try to be on hand to assist them to grasp the many facets of tourism and
hospitality subjects.

I encourage my students by focusing on learning. They can focus by asking questions and listening. I ask
my students to come to see me in office hours.

How can the Foundation board members be involved in the larger college community to forge
connections?
I envision by giving them quizzes and tests.
I give my students feedback on their assignments.
Implementing/ incorporating more student in put via their feedback.
Including assessment of student learning of information competency skills.
Incorporating web page / student use for every instructor / class.
Make sure to keep current on various travel and hospitality subject, and experiences.
More a???? training for instructors, including me.

Need method of discipline for classified staff (streamline).
No consequences due to current culture.
One cannot fix something unless one knows it is broken or in need of repair.
Participation/ attendance at business/ industry/ government and internships/ seminars, training activities.
Place emphasis on ongoing assessments of the program and student achievement to ensure the program
is running efficiently making changes based on the assessment.

The WLAC culture needs to expand the programs; offer more classes.
This Administration and Faculty – full‐time continues to work with part‐time faculty to assist them to
improve in their given areas. This will assist me to improve in my work.

We continuously motivate our students to excel in all subject areas. In addition, we strive for our
students to be well rounded and so therefore, we want our students to be top choice for colleges once it’s
time.

positions, helping the student prepare for them.

The administration is amenable to coursework to assist more disabled students as well as to add
advanced courses for students wanting to continue working in certain areas – that now only offer a
beginning course.
To have ebook for some of the courses which is much cheaper and accessible to our students
WAC Psychology FACEBOOK site for my students to interact professionally!
We should implement a program that allows a student to complete a two‐year course in two years.

∙ Learn about the different outreach programs
∙ West representation at neighborhood fairs, etc.
Although UBMS is housed on the WLAC & we serve the population of students @ LA High, becoming more
known in the Culver City area would really boost and show other parts of the city what w do. By gaining a
bigger presence we can promote more, collaborating with other programs in the area to reach this
community.
Alumni groups at specific universities.
Better infrastructure to support such collaboration;
Branch out to K‐12 not just in our local area.
Contact should be made with community employers to accept/ offer internships.
Continue the partnerships amongst the community to continue to promote education.
Continue to keep up the good work.
Department seminars – invited speakers, field trips to universities.
Do volunteers, access to summer research projects. There are a lot of summer research offered by higher
institutes funded by NIH, NSF
Engage students in documentary shoots that involve Behavioral Sciences to show at TED Culver City
Information sharing between communities and college.

Our program needs to prepare students in the community to work in the community following
matriculation.
Participation/ attendance in outside worksite activities such as trainings or internships.
Reach out to WIB and employment Worksource centers.
The need to unify messaging about the college and the need for community support.
Too much based on independent effort
Try to encourage group projects involving funding and mutual assistance, such as intern classes for travel
and hospitality occupations.
We are the community liaisons.
We should listen to our students carefully so they feel we care about them.
WLAC’s outreach to the community will enhance student’s wanting to take courses/ enroll in programs at
WLAC.
