Hello we are Lotus Home Care.

We are a compassionate home care provider and support adults over 18 to live an independent life within the community. We support adults with the following:

• Low or high level support needs, • Dementia, • Physical disability • Mental health needs.

The underpinning focal point of all our services, whether within an environment or out in the community, is enablement.

You are at the forefront of this service, you get to decide what you want to do and when you want to do it, our role is to help you to do it.

Our services include:

• Quality and compassionate support.

• A well led team of staff providing choice and tailored services.

• Supporting participation in activities e.g. swimming, cinema, garden centre visits.

• Empowering you to achieve your life goals/ambitions/aspirations.

• Helping you to discover skills and job matching with confidence-building sessions.

• Identifying individual needs and promoting well-being by assisting/booking and attending appointments.

• Supporting household tasks e.g. setting up direct debits / budget planning / shopping / cleaning / gardening.

• Promoting social inclusion with family and friends.

• Personal care or support services / respite / end of life care.

Safeguarding (Staying safe)

Your safety is our priority and we ensure that our staff have passed all relevant checks before they can provide services to you. Our staff are well trained to understand when you are not safe and what to do in the event that you are not safe. The process they follow is simple:

1. They make sure that you are not in any immediate danger

2. They will inform their manager as soon as possible 3. The manager will contact the Barnsley Safeguarding team 4. Depending on what has happened, they may need to contact the police 5. Investigations will be carried out to make sure that it does not happen again.

We are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week, if you have any concerns about your welfare, you can discuss it with us and we can make sure that you are safe and supported.

You will see the above qualities in our service- we want to make it personal to you so that you feel enabled to discover more about yourself and develop a new set of skills.

We regularly monitor the quality of service that we give by getting feedback from you, family and carers. If you have any concerns, we encourage you get in touch with us, after all this service is personal to you and we want to make sure that it is perfect.

Service User Involvement

Whenever you contact us, we will listen to you and allow you and your loved ones to have a say in how you want your service to be, after all it is personal to you. Your need and goals are documented onto your personal plan and is reviewed regularly to ensure that it reflects your current needs.

We train our carers to meet your needs, if you have different communication requirements let us know so that we can make suitable arrangements to ensure that your plan is adapted to achieving your goals.

You are at the centre of our service, we value your comments and if you have any suggestions to improve our service let us know when we conduct our monthly reviews or call us anytime as we work on an “open door policy”

“My sister has dementia, she was discharged from hospital and was initially given care by another provider. The service they provided did not meet our expectations. We would have different carers every week and they would give us a two hour time slot of their arrival. This did not help with my sister’s dementia.

At Lotus Home Care, we look at the wide picture and explore ways in which our service can benefit you.

We understand that participating in activities allows you to discover skills that you never knew you had. These newly acquired skills can become useful for a job or volunteer position that you may be interested in applying for.

Whatever your interests are, we aim to help you to arrange activities that suits you and that you enjoy. This could be, for example, gardening, cooking or something art related.

We help you identify your goals and the ways in which you can achieve them. These are all documented on your personal plan and we review them regularly so that we can monitor the progress that you are making and if we need to make any changes we can discuss them together.

Finding a job can be a daunting experience, but it doesn’t have to be. Here at Lotus Home Care, we can help you to discover your true potential and build confidence to find a job that is best suited to your skills and interests.

Our process is simple, we will discuss together what your life goals are and what job you can see yourself doing. We will document this on your personal record and discuss and develop an action plan to help you achieve your goals. This may include helping you to develop your CV, arrange contact with local job centres and prepare for interviews.

We have good links with recruitment agencies who work in the same building as us and they can help you to job match or find a work placement that suits you

Your plans are regularly updated so that we can monitor your progress.

You have choice in deciding how you want to work. If you prefer to start with a volunteer position, we will help you to find the best suited one. Many individuals prefer to go down this route as it allows them to discover their personal and work related goals. We can support you in your volunteering role until you are ready to move into paid employment. Your goals and interests are recorded and regularly reviewed.

We can arrange meetings with local charities and the council to help you find a volunteering opportunity that suits you.

We have a Lotus Home Care volunteering programme. We can provide you with the support and training to help us make a positive difference. You would represent the organisation and attend meetings to inspire individuals with disabilities to live a fulfilled life by encouraging them to discover their goals and how they can achieve them.

At Lotus Home Care, we can assist you to:

• Get a staff member, who will have business insurance in place, to take you in their own car. Although, other means will be considered first as promoting independence is a priority.

• Set up bus passes

• Advise you on bus times and providing directions to bus stop.

• Use train services effectively.

• Arrange transport means for day trips and holidays etc.

• Setting reminders on mobile phones or calendar alerts for travel times

• Working with local taxi firms – providing training and information regarding how these organisations can assist you so that you are familiar with what to expect.

The end goal is for you to become independent when utilising public transport. We can support you with the above until you are comfortable doing it yourself.

Your needs are recorded into your personal plan and are reviewed regularly to ensure you are informed of your progress.

Whilst you will be supported to make your own choices, we do encourage you to try new things, as you may discover something new about yourself. You may develop new skills which can be used in other areas of your life.

We can offer you support to manage your money in the way that you want to be supported. We can offer training to help you manage your finances more sensibly. For example, using budget forms and helping to set up standing orders/direct debits.

Our financial support is not limited to financial management; we can assist you to meet with the Citizen’s Advice Bureau in order to complete forms that are sent to the Department of Works and Pensions. This may include forms to be considered for housing or disability benefit.

Our staff have been trained to provide you with financial support. They understand the processes to follow in order to safely manage your money. Ultimately, risks are recorded and your choice of how you spend your money is respected.

24. Housing related support outcomes This service is for:-

If you’re a home owner or currently renting, we can help you to manage your tenancy or look for other ways to in which you can live independently.

If you would like to live in your own home, we can help you to look for one that is best suited to you and is safe. If you would like to rent a house, we can help you to make sure that it is safe to live in and that you understand your tenancy agreement.

Through the funding and benefits that you are entitled to we can support you to manage and pay for your household expenditure such as gas and electric bills.

We will arrange to meet you so that we can understand what your housing support needs are. We will document these and develop an action plan. We regularly review this so that we can monitor your individual progress.

We can only accept 5 individuals at a time for community based activities, as they are more focussed on helping individuals to achieve their leisure goals as stated within their learning plans.

Specialist service

£18.50 for 1:1 specialist support £21.00 per person for half a day (minimum of 5people in the group)

This service is focussed on helping individuals to gain employment, enrol onto training/courses or support to volunteer. This is focussed on arranging activities geared towards individual goals and assisting to learn new skills. Individuals will have their plans reviewed to monitor progress.
