Nahjul Balaghah, Saying No.482 Note: The real value of a person is in his knowledge (and the perfection of his attainments). His worth and position would be in accordance with the status of knowledge and attainments he holds. Eyes that are conscious of real values do not look at the face, features, tallness of stature, size or worldly pomp and position but look at the attainments of a person and assess his worth according to these attainments. The conclusion is that a man should strive to acquire distinction and knowledge. The worth of every person is according to the extent of his knowledge.

Ghurar -ul- Hakam, p. 341 With an aim to increase the educational level of the students of the community the institution has been serving the Society in different areas of education (both school and Arabic classes as well) since 1975. Institution started with a very limited work of textbook distribution. The institution gradually increased the works step by step, firstly giving educational aid then administrating different Arabic classes all over Gujarat, starting tuition classes, imparting computer education and building a community hostel. More than 15 Youths of our community have been serving the society under the guardianship of IMAM-E- ZAMANA. (A.S.) As the small plant has grown to a huge tree we thank to Almighty Allah and pray to Him to strengthen this tree and make it a cool and shadowed place for the entire community.

(1) EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES

(A) RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (ARABIC)The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said: "The virtue of knowledge is

To teach the students actual way of worship and to adorn their worship with the recognition of the One Who is worshipped, Husaini Education & Welfare Society Trust working committee is taking care of the activities of religious education.

AIM: - The aim of the trust is to arrange, to conduct Dini Arabic class in Bhavnagar and in other places; and to promote religious education in all the generation of Shia Ithna Ashari Muslims with all our sincere efforts. PRESENT ACTIVITIES: - At present 55 Arabic classes in different 22 places are granted for teachers' salary. The Arabic classes are meant to provide primary Dini Talim in Aqaed, Ahkam and Quran recitation. They are teaching syllabus of Husaini Education & Welfare Society Trust, Bhavnagar. and Tanzimul Makatib of Lucknow. Two Classes for elder ladies is continued in Bhavnagar at weekly basis in which 35 Ladies are learning religion. We have also send 4 ladies for further training to Lucknow.

(B) ZAINABIYA INSTITUTE INTRODUCTION: - Imam Amir - ul - Mumineen Ali (A.S.) said: "One who seek knowledge is like a warrior in the cause of religion for the way of Allah." Bihar-ul-Anwar, Vol. 1, P. 179 To create awareness and develop importance of education in the students this center is imparting extra coaching to the students of secondary school from 1st Std. to 10th Std. along with planned Dini Talim and vocational guidance in an organized playful environment. Students are provided such training for three periods, comprising 45 minutes each day. We have planned to provide education along with practical using modern laboratory equipment and vocational guidance as far as possible.

NEED OF THE PROJECT: - Present efforts of the HEWST like financial aid under ZCCS, Providing textbooks, circular library, coaching classes activities were sufficient for carrying out their studies without any economical hurdles. But this dose not make them to acquire education up to their level best because of many reasons viz.: * Lack of family background, as most of parents are illiterate. * Economic hardship of the family which compel them to contribute students time in

earning. * Ignorance of parents about the values of the Dini and school education. * Careless response of the parents of family members towards the child response. And such many more. AIM: - To uplift the level of the education of the children of our community to the level best individually. Each of them must be given in an organized play environment under specialized personal guidance with the help of modern teaching aids at a centralized place.

(C) MURTUZA COMPUTER ACADEMY

INTRODUCTION: - In tradition it is said that "Train your children according to their age". To train the community students according to their current age. This center was established on 15th Shaban H.S. 1415 with one computer system. Now it has grown up and comprises 12 systems.

AIM: - Aim of the MCA is to provide comprehensive computer education with the enhanced practical training to the youth of our community.

PURPOSE OF THE ESTABLISHMENT: - Computers are fast growing technology and is now being applied to all the fields of life. It has become a very prospective square oriented field. Many private institution are providing such training but at a higher rates of Rs. 1500/- per month for such training. These institutes are totally professionals and their teaching medium is English. Both the aspects are hard barriers for our students to enroll.

To overcome the above barriers MCA was established with only one system, which has grown upto 12 systems. In the year 2006-2007 total 99 students have completed their training during the present year, which also includes girls.

More and more students are coming up to join MCA. We have received good results year by year. We are planning to develop MCA up to the accredited levels to tie up with some franchisee in future.

ILM LIBRARY

Books are treasures of knowledge and also it is a symbol of a successful society. In the light of traditions 'Books are gardens for the scholars'. This library is prospered with approximately 1200 books. Elders, youths and children take benefit from this library. )

HUSAINI HEALTH CENTER

Husaini education has started a new center that concentrates on the health of the students, youths and elders of the community. Inaugurated Husaini Health Center on June 4, 2002. Center possesses many instruments for different kind of exercise. 12 members are regularly benefiting from this center.

(2) EDUCATIONAL AID (A) ZAINABIYA CHILD SPONSORSHIP SCHEME (ZCSS)

To provide all the possible facilities and to remove all the hurdles from the way of the community students, so they can study with out any barrier of earning and just concentrate on studies, educational aid are provided to the students.

With co- operation of World Federation of K.S.I.M.C. (London) needy student of schools and colleges from our community are provided financial aids for school fees, Conveyance, Uniform, books etc. In year 2006-2007 there were total 596 beneficiaries of the educational aid under this scheme. In every academic year students are provided textbook and work books, which are replaced with the new one in the New Year. Books are re circulated between the students in this way. A library facility for the necessary books is also provided.

(C) EXERCISE BOOKS Students are given exercise books at the purchase cost without taking any profit, which will decrease their stationary expenses.

(D) CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

To explore the hidden talents in the students, different activities and motivations is essential which will be helpful as a guide in their way to success. A separate group is established to arrange various cultural activities to motivate students and to bring them closer to religious studies and secular education.

Drawing competition, chart drawing competition, majlis competition and diniyat quiz were organized. Students were keenly interested in the events. Experts visited to observe the prize distribution ceremony and encourage the students to study well.

Husaini Sports Club organizes games and sports activities like athletics, games like table tennis, scatting, swimming and such other activities to engage students from falling into bad habits and engage themselves in maintaining physical fitness and mind alertness. This activity is especially taken up during the vacation period and also tution classes are held so that the student remains engaged throughout the day of his vacation.

For ladies we arrange classes in cooking, Mhendi designing, spoken English, tailoring, embroidery and such suitable activities that the ladies can also be engaged in these activities during their vacation period.

(E) INCENTIVE SCHEME

Rewarding and appreciation is a key factor to boost a student's self-confidence and encourage them to work more and more and exceed all the limits and reach to the peak of success. In order to encourage the students, prizes, medals, trophies are awarded to Merit scholar at the Boards & University examinations as well as students securing highest marks in every Standard at school level i.e., from L.K.G. to College level to all

HUSAINI EDUCATION & WELFARE SOCIETY TRUST PAGE 11 Shia Ithna Ashari students residing at Bhavnagar. A token encouraging prize is awarded to every student who pass-out at the school and college level. Those students getting ranks are awarded gifts and prizes during the Annual Prize Distribution Function by which the students are motivated and encouraged for better future results. (Prizes are allotted at 1 to 4th Standard – 80% and above, 5th to 7th Std – 75% and above, 8th to 10th Std. 70% & above, 11th and 12th Std. 65% and above and First class in any degree course)

• In std 10th 0 Boys and 7 Girls were awarded with medals • In std 12th 5 Boys and 3 Girls were awarded with medals • In College and University level 2 Boys and 2 girls were awarded with medals • Best student from all over Gujarat in Diniyat std 1 to 3 was awarded with Alhaj Mulla Asghar

• The Teachers of Arabic classes getting highest percentage from all Arabic classes in Gujarat was awarded with Adalji Dhanji Kaba Award.

• Alhaj Mulla Asghar Memorial Award was also given to all the students achieving I,II,III rank of each institution in their theological classes of their area.

(3) FUTURE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

(A) COMMUNITY HOSTEL:- (This project is accredited and passed by Alhaj Huseinali Pariyani, Sajjadiya Trust, Canada.) Bhavnagar is one of the centers for education facilities in Gujarat. Bhavnagar has its own University where many higher educational courses are being conducted in various colleges such as Medical college, Engineering college, Law college etc. Further more it has Gujarat State Government Institutes like Polytechnic Institute, Industrial training Inst. Aryuved Mahavidyalay etc. Many students of our community, from Bhavnagar and other cities/towns of Gujarat get

their admission in these collages or institutes according to their qualifications. After

finishing hard task of getting admission in their selected branches out station students

have to face a harder task to get admission in any Govt. hostel (if accommodation is

available) which is too difficult due to shortage of accommodation the lot of applications.

So the students have to go for community hostel or for private room which even a higher

middle class student cannot afford the rent of it. As far as the community is concerned

unfortunately our Shia Ithna Ashari community did not have its own Hostel. There's only

one Muslim Hostel i.e. Memon Boarding, where hardly few of our students can get an

admission. But after getting admission they have to observe many restrictions. A simple

HUSAINI EDUCATION & WELFARE SOCIETY TRUST PAGE 12 and tragic example is that they cannot offer Namaz on sijdagah (Khaq e Shafa). Those

who get admission at Government or other hostels have to struggle for Taharat and

against nuisance of slung language, drug addicted neighbour or a partner, urchins or

even communal disharmony.

Considering all the above points and repeated requests from the group of (out station) students, Members of Husaini Education & Welfare Society Trust were encouraged to plan to have our community hostel in Bhavnagar.

By the Grace of Almighty Allah and support of Sajjadiya Trust, Canada construction of the new hostel was completed with all the latest facilities and favourable study environment. Students have shifted to new hostel and they are satisfied with the same.

(B) HIGHER EDUCATION

At present two Students are pursuing Medical course at Era's Lucknow Medical College and Hospital, Lucknow, with the financial support of M/s Sajjadiyya Trust of Canada. We are indebted for the generous support to these deserving candidates of our community.

(C) VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE AND COURSES

We hold regular seminars invite eminent speakers to guide young students for various courses available today for their better future. After attending the seminars, students make their own suitable choices for courses like Mobile Repair (Hardware and Software), Computer Course with Spoken English, Computer (Hardware and Software Training), Electrical wiring course,

Plumbing and Welding course etc., these courses are conducted by us through our separate institution run by us under the banner JA'FARI SOCIAL GROUP. This institution also takes care of ILM Library with well stock religious books in Urdu, Arabic, English and Gujarati.

EMPLOYMENT GUIDANCE AND PLACEMENT

Through our institution JA'FARI SOCIAL GROUP, and JA'FARI JOBS, we provide complete guidance for local and overseas employment. We also provide job availability information and assistance. Several applicants have been benefited with local and overseas employment, with your good wishes and blessings of Imam-e-Zamana (a.s.) we are getting encouraging response and we are still expecting much more. Other projects in the pipe line includes housing project for the financially backward with part contribution from our side. We solicit your esteemed dua in each of your prayers for our rapid progress.

(4) SOURCE OF INCOME The Holy Prophet said: "He who decreases a grief out of the grieves of this world for his Muslim brother. Allah will decrease for him a grief out of the grieves of the hereafter."
