Executive summaryExecutive summaryExecutive summaryExecutive summary

Welding is the largely practiced joining process in the industry. It’s a largely discussed subject

also especially in petrochemicals, oil & gas, energy and refinery sectors. This is due to the fact that a variety of materials need to be joined on frequent basis. Looking quickly at their properties and suggested parameters during their welding, is a job to do. It involves looking at

more than one reference.

Narrowing down to the needs of the people serving these sectors, WeldPulse has been smartly designed to act as your companion in welding. It contains well organized data which enables user to make a welding decision with confidence. While using WeldPulse, one does not have to move from his desk and look for different references to make a correct welding

decision. Everything related to the materials to be welded is available within WeldPulse. Program contains 80% of the materials being used in petrochemical industry and are taken by

ASME in their construction and welding codes.

It provides ready-to-weld data for over 90% of the materials included in database. That ready-to-weld data contains applicable electrode and filler wire for the most commonly used welding processes that is SMAW and GTAW along with pre-heat, interpass and post weld heat treatment requirements against the construction codes used in petrochemicals. This data is

suggested by WeldPulse and can be changed by the user to the most appropriate by looking at the material and filler properties in supporting modules. This feature makes WeldPulse special

and more helpful especially for those working with a variety of materials.

Along with this, WeldPulse assigns a welding profile to the user. This feature helps individuals

of all levels of experience as the software transforms itself to their needs.

Quick Weld is a smartly designed module which provides you ready-to-weld data in a minute. All you need to know is the information of the two materials to be welded. WeldPulse has all the information on the materials and will suggest you an appropriate welding electrode for shielded metal arc welding (SMAW /MMA) with a filler wire for gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW). Not only this, it will provide you the minimum preheat temperature, maximum interpass and the post weld heat

treatment, if required. All this to-do-weld data will be given just on the basis of material information you provide to QuickWeld module. Information displayed will be customized based upon the level of experience you have set in WeldPulse. If you have selected novice you won't be displayed any additional information other than required to do the weld. However at beginner and

professional level, information is added to enable looking deeper into the welding job. Professional will be having enough

information to review and pass on to the concerned.

WPS IXWPS IXWPS IXWPS IX is a complete welding procedure specification module conforming to the requirements of ASME IX. It is an extension to

Quick Weld module where the user can write a welding procedure specification as required by the welding code. WeldPulse provides complete wizard support in writing a WPS through this module. Taking the inputs in few steps, data is taken to the form where user can edit or add some more values. In addition to this, an already entered PQR in WeldPulse can be loaded to form a

WPS. User can then refer to procedure qualification variables to look for the approval ranges and fill the data appropriately. Form has been developed as per ASME IX suggested pattern and contains all the required inputs for complete welding procedure

specifications.

Features: • Write a preliminary welding procedure through wizard support

• Call a qualified procedure through PQR module

• Full support for 500+ materials to be welded with GTAW or SMAW - Joint detail - P.No. - G.No. - Material specification - Filler specification - F.No. - A.No. - Amperage for selected electrode & fillers - Preheat (min.) - Interpass temperature (max.) - Post weld heat treatment

• Preloaded joint designs

• Form conforming to ASME IX with all values

• Customizable logos on WPS form

PQR IXPQR IXPQR IXPQR IX module consists of an ASME IX form which helps user in entering an already available data into the system. Once a form is filled and entered into the system, it can then be called within WPS IX module of WeldPulse. All the relevant values from PQR IX would then be taken to WPS IX; thereon a welding procedure specification can be made within the approval ranges of PQR.

Approval ranges can be seen in Pro-Check IX module which contains all the essential variables.

MaterialMaterialMaterialMaterialssss databasedatabasedatabasedatabase module enables user knowing about the welding properties of most commonly used materials in process industries. At a glance, you can know the tensile and yield stress values as per ASME Sec. II Part D. Then chemical composition is given to assess the material a little more deep. This helps in choosing a suiting welding electrode or rod. This module also

provides the P.No. and Group No. of a material which provides user with suitable information required to develop a welding

procedure.

Page 7: WeldPulse - Welding Software Brochure

Features:

• Most commonly used materials in process plants

Filler materials databaseFiller materials databaseFiller materials databaseFiller materials database provides quick and easy to access information on filler materials. All the filler materials for carbon

steels, alloy steels, stainless steels and nickel alloys have been listed for SMAW and GTAW processes. Intended use for each of the filler material is included in order to facilitate users when choosing the consumables. Also included are the major properties like F.No., A.No., AWS and SFA classification. These properties help in knowing more about the filler materials being used or considered to be used. User can also see if the welder doing a particular welding job is qualified for the F.No. of the rod or

electrode he/she is using. Other two features are the recommended amperage and the welding position as given in ASME Sec. II Part C. With this information, it is easy to either review or fill out the filler metals section of a welding procedure specification.

Features: • Intended use as per ASME Sec. II Part C

• Provides following properties: - F.No. - A.No. - AWS No. - SFA Class - Welding position - Recommended amperage

PredictPredictPredictPredict----FFFF helps in determining the ferrite number of a welding consumable or a base material or most importantly a dissimilar welding joint. Ferrite number is an important subject when dealing with stainless steels and worried about corrosion resistant properties. Within petrochemicals, some materials being welded require very low ferrite number means a fully austenitic structure

to cope with extremely corrosive services. Predict-F helps you in getting a ferrite number using the composition of few elements. When you have a predicted ferrite number in hand then you can consider revision of a welding consumable being proposed. Therefore, in a way Predict-F helps you in choosing an appropriate welding consumable for a dissimilar welding job involving

stainless steel and sensitive to ferrite content. Predict-F uses WRC 1992 diagram to predict the ferrite number and has been

accurately verified by the welding specialists.

Features: • Predicts ferrite number of a weld joint involving austenitic stainless steel

• Conforms to WRC 1992 diagram

• Auto-calculation of ferrite number

• No graph required

• Provides ferrite number for a base material or consumable also

• Helps in selecting the right consumable for a welding job sensitive to ferrite content

CE & HICE & HICE & HICE & HI calculations help the user in getting useful information often required to make welding decisions. Carbon equivalent has an important role when determining the pre-heat and post weld heat treatment

requirements of a welding job. Construction codes also provide inputs based upon carbon equivalent in many cases. Similarly, heat input is important as it is a supplementary essential variable also. It becomes essential when notch toughness is required by the code. HI module helps in calculating the heat input and
