As the primary WCR 49 Corridor project construction comes to an end, Weld County is pleased to announce the starting of the last phase of the project. The last key link to the WCR 49 Corridor is construction of WCR 47 from WCR 60 ½ to SH 392 which will complete four lanes of traffic from I-76 to SH 392. This construction will begin in the Fall of 2017.
To expedite the completion date and decrease the overall construction time, WCR 47 will be closed during construction. Cross Roads such as WCR 62 and 64 will remain open during this time for cross traffic.
A detour plan has been prepared to accommodate the cross traffic during construction. The map below shows the anticipated closure locations and the recommended detour map. Weld County Public Works will be hosting an October neighborhood meeting to discuss.
For more information related to the meeting and the upcoming closure please contact us at [email protected].

Weld County received a $40,000 grant from the State of Colorado to install a state of the art Roadside Weather Information System (weather station) along WCR 49 to communicate the weather patterns with Weld County, surrounding cities, as well as the Colorado Department of Transportation in real time.
The weather station will be able to observe both air and roadway temperatures to aid the county in determining maintenance needs during weather events. In addition, the weather station will be able to communicate via existing fiber lines along the corridor with the incident management desk at the Weld County Public Works Office.
The primary benefit of this weather station is to improve safety for travelers and commuters in the region during extreme weather conditions. The operations crew for Weld County can instantly find out about the weather and plan on deploying snowplows and applying deicer accordingly. The weather station can also alert the county public Works, Office of Emergency Management, as well as the Sheriff’s office of potential flooding.
