Prioritizing the Health and Safety of Our Students and Staff:

VPHS Procedures● 5 day a week in person schedule● 7:40 AM-2:40 PM● Parent Drop Off and Pick Up before and after school at the double gates at

the softball field● Student Parking at the lot behind Central Office● Students report directly to their 1st hour class● Grab and Go Breakfast located at both high school entrances and will be

eaten in 1st hour class before class begins● Pick Up or Drop Off during the school day please stay in the car and call the

office for pick up...Drop off have your student check in at the main office

VPHS Procedures● Social Distancing minimally 3 feet (Lunch Rooms 6 feet)● Classrooms and Lunches will have assigned seats for contact tracing

purposes● No Locker Usage● Breakfast and Lunch are free for all VPSD students● Breakfast and Lunch can be brought from home (Microwaves back in lunch

rooms)● Hot or Cold meal option with limited self-serve food and drink options for

purchase● Sharing of food prohibited● Will eat with their grade level

○ Will not live stream○ No expectation of a student to participate when ill○ Teachers will supply materials to work at home within 36 hours○ Students should complete work to the extend their health allows○ Grades and feedback will be given on work missed

Missouri A+ Scholarship ProgramWhat is the A+ criteria for students?

- Attend an A+ designated high school for 3 years prior to graduation

- Graduate with a 2.5 cumulative GPA- Have a 95% cumulative attendance record- Perform 50 hours of unpaid tutoring or

mentoring (VPHS offers a course for students to earn these hours)

- Maintain a record of good citizenship- Have achieved a score of proficient or

advanced on the Algebra 1 EOC

What is the A+ program?

The A+ program, sponsored through the Missouri Department of Higher Education, provides scholarship funds to qualifying students who have graduated from an A+ designated Missouri high school (VPHS is A+ designated)

What are the benefits to students?

Students who graduate from VPHS having met the A+ criteria will earn full tuition to participating 2-year colleges or tech schools. Several 4-year universities also offer scholarship funds for students who have met A+ criteria

1. Bona Fide Student- In order to represent your school, you must be a bona fide student and meet all

eligibility requirements. You must be regularly attending classes and you must meet the academic requirements in MSHSAA By-Law 2.3 and those of VPSD.

Academics● Earn 3.0 credits the semester prior to participation● Be enrolled in 3.0 credits during the semester(s) of

participation● Up to 1.0 credit of Summer School can be counted towards

eligibility in the fall semester as long as the course necessary for graduation and is placed on the official transcript

2. Creditable Citizen- Creditable citizens are those students whose conduct - both

in school and out of school - will not reflect discredit upon themselves or their school.

- Conduct involving law enforcement must be reported to your principal or athletic director immediately as your conduct may affect eligibility or contest outcomes. Failure to immediately report issues to your school will result in an automatic 365 days of ineligibility.

By Law 2.2.2 Law Enforcement:a. A student who commits an act for which charges may be or have been

filed by law enforcement authorities under any municipal ordinance, misdemeanor or felony statute shall not be eligible until all proceedings with the legal system have been concluded and any penalty (i.e. jail time, fine, court costs, etc.) or special condition of probation (i.e. restitution, community service, counseling, etc.) has been satisfied. If law enforcement authorities determine that charges will not be filed, eligibility will be contingent upon local school policies.

b. After a student has completed all court appearances and penalties, and has satisfied all special conditions of probation and remains under general probation only, local school authorities shall determine eligibility.

By Law 2.2.3 Local School:a. A student who violates a local school policy is ineligible until

completion of the prescribed school penalties.b. The eligibility of a student who is serving detention or in-school

suspension shall be determined by local school authorities.c. A student shall not be considered eligible while serving an

out-of-school suspension.d. If a student misses class(es) without being excused by the

principal, the student shall not be considered eligible on that date. Further, the student cannot be certified eligible to participate on any subsequent date until the student attends a full day of classes.

3. Sportsmanship- If you commit an unsportsmanlike act while

participating in an event, you could become ineligible.

- If your conduct as a spectator is found to be unsportsmanlike, you could be barred from attending any further high school contests.

- The unsportsmanlike conduct of any spectator, regardless of age, could cause that spectator to be barred from attending school contests.

All players, coaches, parents, and other fans attending any interscholastic event are expected to:● Maintain pride for self and our school● Maintain high standards of conduct at all times● Not engage in disrespectful chants, including

personal remarks directed at coaches, players, officials

● No use of profanity or implied profanity

Valley Park’s Current Plan for Special Education

•Our amazing SSD Team returned to work on August 11, 2021 for orientations and professional development.

•The focus of our professional development was on Social Emotional Learning, Building Relationships, Universal Supports, and the Science of Laughter. We will continue this focus, as well as literacy and numeracy.

•We will start the school year 100% in person as a partner with Valley Park.

•We will follow and support the Valley Park Return to Learn Plan.

•SSD staff will use the same communication system through Infinite Campus (Campus Learn) in partnership with communication from general educators.

NEW STRATEGIC PLAN: focus is the operational aspects of Special School District that are essential to the long-term growth of the District. This will be rolled out during the 2021-2022 school year.
