What is an Alien?

ALIENS!!!ALIENS!!!

What if aliens physically looked the same as humans. How could we tell the difference?

Monday’s Mission Memory Verse: Be an Alien

You are strangers in this world: "Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.” ~ 1 Peter 2:11-12

What are sinful desires?

What are sinful desires?Did you say you want to…..

•Hit your brother back?•Take a cookie when no one is looking?•Say you brushed your teeth when you haven’t•Not take any blame?

Then your are perfectly human.

The Bible uses these words to describe the HUMANS OF THIS WORLD:

Lovers of money, lovers of self, proud, arrogant, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, and lovers of

pleasure rather than lovers of God.(words taken from 2nd Timothy 3:13)

I go 1st I’m the best on the team

No Mom – I’ll do my homework after I play.

Why doesn’t she say thank you?

Selfish Humans!

How to be “AN ALIEN”The Bible uses these words:

Self-controlled, pure, dignified, loving, well-pleasing, showing integrity

(words taken from Titus 2)

Where or when is it the hardest to be an alien?

I love these but I’ll leave some for the other kids.

Let’s finish with a story of loving others and putting them 1st

Sara was a college senior playing for the championship of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference softball league. In the second inning, she hit her first home run ever — the ball sailed right out of the park. Then, rounding the bases, she realized that she had failed to touch first. So, she turned back. But, through a twist of fate and her knee, she found herself down on the ground with a torn ligament, crawling in agony back to first base. According to the rules, she would have been out if anyone from her team helped her.That’s when Mallory Holtman — from the other team — stepped up to help. She and her teammate, Liz Wallace, carried Sara around the bases, making sure to tap her left foot on each base. Though Mallory and Liz lost the game that day, they clearly accomplished something more important. (Watch the video: Girls Softball Miracle)

Let’s finish with a story of loving others and putting them 1st

be an alien!

PRAYER TIME….to act like an ALIEN and be

different. Help us act against our human sinful desires around our

brothers and sisters, during games and sports, in the school hallways, and hanging with our

friends.

Also lets pray for our meal!!

Tuesday’s verse:

~Romans 12:2 (NIRV)2 Do not live any longer the way this world lives. Let your way of thinking be completely changed. Then your will be able to test what God wants for you. And you will agree that what he wants is right. His plan is good and pleasing and perfect.

We are in this world but not of this world

The world’s humans act as such:They do Touchdown dances

They want to be served like the famousThey boast and brag

They crave attention and popularityThey look out for themselves

Aliens do this:They thank the “blockers”

They let others compliment themThey are humble

They put the needs of others 1st

"Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord." 1 Cor. 1:31 

It’s a trap!

When the will of God or his word is not agreeing with the world

Creation vs. EvolutionSpending time in prayer vs. playing video gamesVolunteering vs. sleeping lateComplimenting others vs. acting like the funny kids on TV

I hope you now understand this verse a little better. Don’t live like the humans you see, but CHANGE and be different and special. This is the way God wants you to be!

Unfortunately, he was hated.

Wednesday’s verse:

John 15: 18-19

Jesus spoke these words:“Does the world hates you? Remember that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you like one of its own. But you do not belong to the world. I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.

We’ve been chosen. We are special.

Jesus was an Alien – and was hated

Humans wanted him to be king but he came to serve.

He welcomed the children (his own disciples did not like this)He washed his disciples feet (the lowest form of servant hood)He spoke the word of God (many people hate this)He had super power but did not use them to serve himself, but glorify God and help others. (The devil hated it when Jesus would not use his powers to serve himself in the desert)He died on the cross (some hated this because they thought he failed)

YOUR MISSION - Be like JESUS and be out of this world!

Why will you be hated when you act like Jesus?

Remember you may be unpopular (or hated) for:

Choosing a player that may just not be the best for your team.Putting a game that you are playing with a friend on hold to go and help someoneChoosing to help someone on the other teamChoosing to go to church on Sunday morning instead of a friend’s birthday party.Believing that GOD made usTaking the lowest place at the tableThat you do what your parents want and not what your friends wantChoosing God’s will rather than what the world wants

There is GOOD news!!!

The Bible says: James 1:12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life.

Matthew 5:12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven

ALIENS SERVE / Examples of being out of this world:

Making sure others get a share or turn – like during our dinner or sports or games

Asking, “What can I do to help?”

Doing something without being told (WARNING this may cause your parents to have a heart attack!)

Pray for others

Volunteer (VBS / Sunday School / Sports teams / elderly neighbor / girl on crutches)

Tell a buddy about a time you served. What did you do? How did they feel? How did you feel?

Thursday’s Verse:

Love Your Enemies from Luke 6…28bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29"Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other

also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either.30"Give to everyone who asks you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back.…

What does this mean??

When people are mean to you, ALIENS are still required to be nice to them. Extraordinarily NICE! Even to the point of

giving something to them or giving them a compliment.

The Bible goes on to say that even the “bad and evil” are nice to their friends and families. Any HUMAN can do that!!AN ALIEN IS NICE TO PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT NICE TO THEM!

There is more to this most difficult MISSION!!

Matthew 5:43-48

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

I see you are sitting by yourself – would you like to join our table?

That’s great.

You mean we are to:

Pray for the bullies?Do chores for your family that you were not asked to do?Give a Christmas gift to the teacher that is mean to you?Welcome that weird kid that no one likes to sit at your lunch table?Let your irritating little brother have the last brownie?Give a birthday cupcake to the kid who made fun of you last week?

YES!

Will you sometimes be hated for it?

I’ll have the ice cream after you are served.

Again YES!!

Yet somehow or someway your alien actions may just turn an enemy into a

friend.

I need a hug!

PRAYER….….to love those who are our

friends and even those that are not. When others treat us poorly help us be double kind in return.

Thanks for the food we have!

Friday’s verse: Be an Alien

Philippians 3:20

But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Saying the pledge of allegiance is great, but remember our true citizenship is to God’s kingdom.

Don’t be citizen of earth!

When a teacher, friend, or parent finds out that you are an “Alien” (Christian) they should say: “Oh yeah, there is something different and special about them. I’m not surprised.”

NOT

I’m shocked! They are just like any other kid.

Story Time

Don’t be citizen of earth! When you mess up or get in trouble – confess!

Standing up, accepting responsibility is tough (and rare) but you gain respect and you demonstrate that you are different and special.

Be out of this world!

Go therefore and make aliens of all the nations.

Be out of this world!

PRAYER….….to put citizenship of your

kingdom 1st. Help others see the alien in us.

Describe an Alien (characteristics)

Alien sticker (and crafts/picture) should be put in a visible place like a refrigerator, mirror, bedroom. When you see it ask yourself, “Was I an alien today?”
