bridge/remedial courses to the educationally disadvantaged students? If yes, please give details

The University has been providing special remedial classes to the students as and when needed. This practice followed earlier as an affiliated institution is in place for ‘weak’ students in DIT University also. Special Classes are being run for weak students in English & Mathematics identified through diagnostic tests.

The University takes initiative to guide students to avail scholarships through Social Welfare Department of the Uttarakhand State Government or the respective State Government of the state to which the candidate belongs. Scholarships are provided to the students belonging to SC/ST and OBC categories with income below the limit prescribed by the Government. Certain State Governments also provide scholarships to general category students with low income group. The University also offers 26% scholarship in Tuition fee to Uttarakhand domicile candidates on 40% seats. In addition, merit based scholarships are also awarded.

Board of Studies prepares the syllabi, which is then approved by Faculty Council, Academic Council and endorsed by Board of Management of the University.

5.2 What are the Rules/regulations/procedure for revision of the curriculum and when was the curriculum last updated?

Board of Studies does the revision and makes the changes in syllabi, which is then approved by Faculty Council, Academic Council and endorsed by Board of Management. This is University’s first academic year and all curricula and syllabi are newly adopted.

5.3 Whether approval of statutory bodies such as Board of Studies, Academic Council and Board of Management of the University has been taken to start various courses? If yes, please enclose extracts of the minutes.

Yes, approval of Statutory Bodies is taken before starting various Programs. The minutes of the meetings of Board of Studies, Faculty Council, Academic Council, Board of Management and Board of Governors are enclosed at Annexure –IV (a - p).

To provide hands on experience and industrial exposure, the following major steps have been taken: Educational tours to relevant Industries

lasting upto a week; Regular lectures from the Industrial

experts; A structured and compulsory six to eight

weeks of industrial training during summer vacation after the sixth semester, which culminates with the preparation of technical reports followed by seminar presentation; and

To collaborate with industries for live project work towards the end of the program.

Option for Semester long training in Industry in lieu of the Course work in the last semester.

It is both examination as well as practical based.

The University follows both internal as well as external system of evaluation. External experts are also involved in paper setting and evaluation of answer scripts.

Not yet, as this is the first year of the University, which has been started in August 2013.

Yes, it has two mid-term test components, quizzes, assignments, class participation/ attendance and end-term examination in every semester.

5.11 How are the question papers set to ensure the achievement of the course objectives?

Course objectives are achieved by setting Question paper to include the following:

based Questions The basic guidelines for setting up the question papers are provided to experts alongwith a model Question Paper.

5.12 State the policy of the University for the constitution of board of question papersetters, board of examiners and invigilators.

Paper setters are normally Professors from various Government institutions and other reputed institutions. For evaluation, experienced senior faculty members are engaged as a normal policy. Suitable system of checks and balances exists. Invigilation - Faculty members are assigned for invigilation. Invigilation is carried out by our own faculty members. However, to ensure proper compliance and alertness during invigilation the flying squad comprising of Directors, Deans, COE, HODs and Professors take rounds as surprise checks.

Yes. Conclaves of experts from Academia as well as from Industry are being organized for detailed deliberation of academic requirements for various programs and finalization of the basic structure of the curricula. This is followed by meeting of the Board of Studies for various departments. The Board of Studies consists of departmental Faculty members, Heads of the respective Departments and three external experts from Academia & Industry. This is a regular feature and takes place as and when required.
