Bible Message – Dr. James Carlson “A.D. The Bible Continues ” Act 10
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dr. Jim Carlson was in full-time ministry for forty years before retiring in 2011. He has Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Bethel Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota.
After serving as a Navy Chaplain during the Vietnam War, he and Marilyn lived in Hawaii for six years and planted Calvary Church of the Pacific which overlooks Pearl Harbor. The congregation is still going strong and is presently pastored by a full-blooded Hawaiian, Dr. Peter Kamakawiwoole. In subsequent years, Rev. Carlson served as senior pastor of Village Baptist Church in Thornton, Colorado and Cornerstone Baptist Church in Ludington, Michigan (where he ministered for twenty-four years).
Jim and Marilyn have two sons, a daughter and eleven grandchildren. They retired to Kentucky to be near their daughter and her family. Jim is presently writing historical fiction and has two published novels on Amazon with a third coming out this August. His second novel, Edla’s Destiny, containing a clear presentation of the gospel, has been downloaded 4000 times by readers in ten countries during the past year.

STUDENT MINISTRY SUMMER 2015 CALENDAR: NOW AVAILABLE OUTSIDE THE
YOUTH ROOM & AT THE SPECIAL EVENTS DESK.
UBC Student Bulletins are online! Look under “Resources” for ‘Student Bulletins’! You
can also pick one up at the Welcome center or in the Youth room.
GAP! “Kidstock” is their back to school event. The date is Saturday, July 25
th. God has once again opened
doors for us. A “guest house” is available, giving us the opportunity to be part of this event. We would leave the evening of July 24
th, and
return after the event, July 25th. The cost is $10.00 per person for lodging. We will
be on our own for food, or may get together and plan a breakfast. There are area hotels if you would prefer, or we can all “bunk” in the guest house on air mattresses. We have to give John a headcount by the mid June. Are you ready to serve and show these sweet children and their parents love, hope and the light of Jesus? There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board and it will be on a first come basis. If you have questions, see Miss Pat or Pastor Kevin.
TO: Navajo Nation in Thoreau, New Mexico July 23 – Aug. 1 (10days) Cost of trip is $600 all inclusive. UBC has 4 confirmed going on this mission trip: Lisa Ferguson, Tim Caldwell, Dan Skimerton & Larry Stone. Deadline to sign up will be July 1
st, but sooner is better! >> If you would like to donate to support this mission
trip, please use an envelope and mark clearly “Navajo Missions” or online using E-Giving. Please contact Howie Leifheit, at 859-760-8021, for more information.
Another way you can help the mission team would be to donate
gas cards. This helps minimize the cost of the trip there and back. Any amount helps and gas cards from “Pilot” is suggested because they do not charge an activation fee and they can be found along the driven route to get to New Mexico and back. Thank you in advance for all your help! God bless your generous heart.

God’s Plan for Your Life Are you certain you have eternal life and will go to Heaven when you die? What would you say if you were standing before God right now and He asked you, “Why should I let you into My Heaven?” God’s Purpose: God loves us and has a purpose for our lives. The Bible says it this way: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16) Our Need: As we search for meaning in life, we discover that our sinful nature keeps us from fulfilling God purpose for our lives. We are all sinners by nature and by choice. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) God’s Provision: God is holy and just and must punish sin. Yet He loves us and provides forgiveness for our sin. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6) Our Response: The only way Jesus can affect our lives is for us to receive Him. We must surrender to Jesus as Lord. “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved” (Rom. 10:9-10) My Commitment: “Dear Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God and died to forgive me of my sins. I know I have sinned. I ask You to forgive me. I turn from my sins, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. I want to live for You the rest of my life. Amen.”
