How does VoIP Work?

Sends voice information in discrete digital packets rather than sending it through the public switched telephone network (PSTN).

Takes an analogue voice signal and converts it into a digital format so that it can be delivered over an IP network. i.e. Internet.

By using a router-based gateway, a PC-based gateway, a PBX-based gateway and others it can perform the conversion from an analogue signal to a digital format.
