Welcome to the Spring edition of our newsletter. The April proof run yielded some amazing results for Cattle Services - old favourites held their proofs up very well, and some new bulls debuted with their superb first proofs. These like all the sires available from Cattle Services, offer the UK breeder the opportunity to use sires that have been tried and tested within the UK, and it is fantastic to see that the latest group of sires are bred from UK cow families.

Our portfolio contains a very wide range of Ayrshire sires (the largest in the UK), and there are bulls that suit all systems and breeding goals be it - Type, Production or Milk Constituents. Below is some of our fantastic sires:• West Mossgiel Modern Reality – The number one combined Type and PLI sire available. His amazing figures include: +2.4 Type, +3.3 Feet and Legs, £346 PLI.

• Hilltown Oblique – New release sire (ranked number seven available PLI) – A fantastic first proof for Oblique, great PLI of £339, component figures of +0.04% Fat, 0.00% Protein and +1.4 Type Merit rating.

• East Church Patrolman – New Release sire (ranked number six available UK bred PLI sire) – Patrolman combines a nice PLI of £240 with a Type Merit rating of +1.2.

• Rosehill Real McCoy – New Release sire – McCoy has had a great debut proof run. He is the number two milk production sire available. +612 Kgs Milk, +1.7 Type Merit and +1.9 Feet and Legs.

• Ardmore Crown Napier – 99% Reliability - Mr consistent continues to impress with his fantastic figures: £205 PLI,, +1.6 Type Merit, and +1.4 Udder.

• Changue Stadium – Number four type Ayrshire and Red and White Sire available: +2.7 Type, +2.2 Feet and Legs, and +1.9 Udder.

• Muirston Top Brass – Number one Red and White production sire.

• Brocklehill Kestral – New Release sire: +0.7 Type, +1.1 Feet and Legs, +0.05 % Fat and +0.08% Protein. From his first 11 daughters to be classified, four are very good.

• Haresfoot Panache – Number five ranked Fat % sire available, and number two UK proven Fat % sire. I have seen a lot of daughters sired by him, and they are clean boned individuals with fantastic udders

• Stamford Witness – Number 3 ranked Protein % sire available and Number 1 UK proven Protein % sire.

These results have proven again that Cattle Services have a bull to suit all breeding programs. Alongside these fantastic proven sires, there are some great young sires available at a great price. It is important that we try to use young sires in our breeding programs, as without this, we will not have proven sires. Moving forward, Cattle Services will be looking to test six sires a year, and these will be available in both sexed and conventional semen.
