Welcome to the Reggae On The River family!

Thank you for volunteering with us! We are delighted to have you join us at this year’s Reggae reunion. We’ll make sure that you have the support and resources that you need to make your volunteer experience as fun and relaxed as possible. In return, we ask that you use those resources whenever possible and do your best to follow the guidelines as they’ve been set out. So make sure to read this carefully before your first shift.

Volunteer Requirements

Every volunteer must work a minimum of 24 hours before or after the event or 18 hours during the event (typically three 6 hour shifts) to gain 1 volunteer wristband, 1 meal per shift, 1 volunteer tee shirt and camping at the Volunteer Village location. They must also register online, purchase a volunteer ticket and sign a crew agreement/release of liability waiver onsite. Please work all the shifts your crew coordinator gives you. If you don't work at least 18 hours during the festival, please consider helping another crew that might need help for a few hours.

Volunteer Process All volunteers need to fill out an application online – new and returning every year! Step 1: Apply online (with application form here). Step 2: CONFIRM placement and schedule with your crew coordinator. Step 3: Purchase your volunteer ticket : $20 prior to the event online or $25 on site

Volunteer Check In

CHECK-IN FIRST! The Volunteer Check-in is located at the Check-In lot at the main festival entrance and is open:

SOP – Significant Other Person

A SOP is someone who would share your bed. SOP will exchange their pre-purchased TICKET (not wristband) for a volunteer wristband at volunteer check-in. Bring your SOP on Wednesday if possible. You must pre-register your non-volunteer ticket-holder SOP with your crew coordinator in order for him/her to enter the Volunteer Camp and share your tent. If you do not pre-register your SOP, they will NOT be able to camp with you in the Volunteer Village. Better yet, encourage your SOP to also volunteer!

Bring your ID and be on time

Your photo identification (Driver’s license or School ID) is required at volunteer check-in to receive your wristband. For your first shift, allow about 1 to 2 hours for arrival and check-in process if traveling by shuttle from Redway or Garberville. Please show up 30 minutes early for your other shifts.

Volunteer Village Camping

Drop Off Zone The Drop-Off Zone is at Volunteer Village Lot. It will be open from 9am to 9pm on Tuesday and Wednesday (no drop-off zone during the festival). After checking-in, volunteers get dropped off at Drop-Off Zone with their camping gear and then go to the Volunteer Camp Host. All vehicles without parking stickers must be removed from the drop-off zone Wednesday by 10:30pm or WILL be TOWED!

Located directly across Hwy 101 at the Richardson Grove Campground and RV Park (RGRV), Volunteer Village features full shade, bathrooms, showers and continental breakfast every morning. Volunteer wristbands are required. Check in for camping at the Volunteer Village Camp Host at the Entrance on the right just past the store. All volunteers are required to tag their tents and camp in their designated crew areas. The maximum tent size is 9x9 and sleeps 3 people max. Your SOP can not set up a separate tent. Any tent untagged will be removed. Also, respect your fellow volunteers, some work early or late shifts and may be sleeping at anytime. Secure your valuables and keep your campsite clean. The Mateel is not responsible for damage or theft in the volunteer campground. NO FIRES! Though every campsite will have a fire ring, the camping will be tight with tents butting up to the rings. Bring an extinguisher and be Fire Safe with smoking and cooking. Gas Grills are ok. Pack It IN/Pack it OUT! Bring cans, not glass beverages. Please recycle. Leave the packaging for your new tent at home. Broke your camp chair? Take it with you, do not dump it onsite.

Volunteer Lounge The volunteer lounge features a Rehydration Station (bring your cup!) and a shaded place to take a break. The entrance is located just inside the main gate of the concert bowl.

Parking All volunteer parking is offsite. If you can CARPOOL with 3 or more other volunteers, ask your crew coordinator for an onsite Volunteer parking sticker. This is picked up at check-in and allows you to park in the Volunteer Village lot or at the County Line Ranch. The County Line Ranch lot is serviced by the shuttle, you must ask the driver to stop there as it is not a public shuttle stop. Both lots require a parking sticker, so please make sure you are on the list. If you do not have a parking pass, you may not enter the volunteer parking area. You must park outside the gates (Redway or Garberville) and ride the free shuttle. You can park temporarily in the Drop Off Zone and walk your camping necessities into the camping area. Public Parking (DAY USE ONLY) is available in Benbow for $10, first come, first serve basis. No ins/outs. Park at your own risk, secure your valuables and your car. Do not park in a tow zone. The Mateel is not responsible for damage, tows, or break-ins.

Shuttles

The Volunteer parking lot is located at Maple and Redwood Drive at the top of Garberville. Pre and post event, the volunteer shuttle runs Wednesday from 10am to 11pm and from Monday 9am to 3pm. It runs every hour from Garberville, County Line Ranch Volunteer Parking and Main Festival Entrance.

The JahMotion Shuttle runs every half hour. It starts at 8:30am from Thursday to Sunday and ends approximately one hour after the show ends each night and Monday from 9pm to 2pm. The stops are Majestic Center in Redway, Dean Creek campground in Redway, Chevron gas station in Garberville, Golf Lot in Benbow, Main Festival Entrance, Richardson Grove State Park Campground and County Line Ranch.

Drive Safely

If you get a parking pass and are the driver : DO NOT MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN INTO THE EVENT IF COMING FROM THE NORTH. USE THE COOKS VALLEY TURN ACIRCLE. Do not make a U-turn on Hwy 101. Pull into the Cooks Valley exit, turn aCIRCLE and re-enter the highway. Traffic crew will be setting up cones on Wednesday. Vendors and volunteers also arrive on Wednesday.

Be smart, be safe!

Though Volunteer Village is directly across the highway from the festival entrance, traffic will be directed on the back road to re-enter the highway to make a left hand turn into Volunteer Village. There will be a pedestrian crosswalk.
