What is the Practical Nurse Program?

Certificate ProgramFull Time Days (Monday to Friday)

30 hours per week for 10 monthsPart Time Eves – 3 eves per week

18 hours per week for 2 yearsPrepared to work as a

Nurse (LPN) in a variety of settings

LPN OR RN WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

_____________________________________________________________LPN Primary Work Sites – Long Term Care, Community Health, Healthcare Provider Offices, Health Centers, Hospital Out-Patient Centers and Clinics, Corrections, In-Patient General Medical-Surgical Floors (selectively – varies greatly by location)

RN Primary Works Sites – All of the above plus Intensive Care and other Specialty Units (Cardiac, Maternity, Pediatrics)

What are the prerequisites?

NO COURSE PREREQUISITES REQUIRED

HOW DO I APPLY? (TWO STEP PROCESS)

STEP ONEPROGRAM APPLICATION (85.00)

Fee includes one registration for Entrance Exam – the TEAS

(must take exam at UCT)ENTRANCE EXAM MAY BE REPEATED TWICE; in other words, three attempts per admission cycle

Tests administered throughout the academic year (3 hours).READING (42 Questions)MATH (30 Questions)ENGLISH (30 Questions)

STEP TWOMust have H.S. Transcript OR GED

ResultsSend in transcripts for any College

Courses taken previouslyThree References Interview with DirectorHealth Clearance, Immunizations,

When are the interviews?Upon passing all three sections of the TEAS,

applicants are interviewedCall Nancy to schedule an appointment ORNancy will call you

Plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment to complete required paperwork

When will I know if I’ve been accepted into the program?

Letters are sent no later than late March/early April for

classes beginning August 2014

Acceptance and Wait List LettersDeposit of $1,000.00 due within two weeks of

acceptanceSeat Guaranteed after deposit paid

How Will I Pay my Tuition?Full Payment by:

is due two weeks prior to the start of classes (August 2015)

What are your Pass Rates on the Licensing Exam?

Take the licensure exam (NCLEX-PN) after Graduation (additional cost of $430.00)
