Kindergarten News

♦ It has been a very busy late spring in Kindergarten! We walked to the Brookside Museum for the Sheep to Shawl program. It was an exciting morning of hands on fun as we got to feel the wool prior to the sheep being sheared. The little black lamb was adorable! We were able to spin, weave and explore finished woolen products.

♦ After learning all about the Ascension of the Lord, we enjoyed celebrating the liturgy with our whole school.

♦ We began our final month of school with Field Day. It was a day of jampacked fun starting with a walk to the BARC soccer fields. Fifth Grade friends helped as the entire school walked through the Village. We enjoyed fun games and fellowship as all of the grades worked and played together!

♦ Our final Field Trip of the year took us to Animal Land. The highlight was the safari ride and the up close interaction with the camels! We loved both observing and getting up close to a wide variety of animals.

♦ We express thanks to the Knights of Columbus for their Flag Day presentation. They are awe inspiring!

♦ It has been a wonderful year and we are excited about being new First Graders!!

June 21 through July 4th PrayersThis is the fifth year of a program on Religious Liberty from the USCCB. It was started during Obamacare (ACA) to release religious agencies from an HHS Mandate that forced them to fund deadly contraceptives. After many court cases, this issue is still not settled. Getting government in line with God’s commands is proving to be the battleground for religious freedom. Several ‘sexual freedom’ decisions have not strengthened families. The bedrock of society is not selfishness but Godcentered charity as lived in families. Government is what we allow it to become. Please pray for timely Catholic wisdom to guide lawmakers, which happens by our input.

Faith Formation: What is NFP?

Natural family planning is a highly effective, safe, and natural method that can be used to either plan or postpone pregnancy. As an alternative to artificial methods of birth control, the practice of natural family planning allows a woman to understand the signs of fertility in order to naturally postpone a pregnancy. Natural family planning predicts a woman’s fertile time using three important body changes that take place only when ovulation is taking place. By observing these changes, a couple has a daybyday understanding of whether they are fertile or infertile.

At The National Gianna Center for Women’s Health and Fertility, fertility specialists use the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System to monitor a woman’s menstrual and fertility cycle. By learning to identify the signs of a woman’s fertility, a couple can then learn how to use this information to achieve or avoid a pregnancy, depending on their goals. Once patients learn to map the rhythm of their cycles, they can help the healthcare provider to detect fertility patterns that can help them to avoid or achieve pregnancy. According to a multiplesite study of 1,800 couples reported in the Journal of Reproductive Medicine, the FertilityCare™ System is 99.5% effective at avoiding pregnancy.

When the couple is ready to conceive, they simply choose to use the most fertile days for intercourse. Used in this way, 98% of couples of normal fertility will conceive within 4 to 6 months 75% of them in the first month they try to conceive. For info, visithttps://www.giannaofalbany.com/

Health Ministry: Holy Humor

“A cheerful heart is good medicine.” Proverbs 17:22

Humor is more effective than an apple a day. It relieves stress, improves mood and promotes healing. What then is “Holy Humor” you might ask? Simply put, Holy Humor is a lifeaffirming healing flow of Spirit that uplifts us and makes us feel good. It has always been an important aspect of spiritual community because those who laugh together and pray together tend to stay together.

Of course, there are times in all of our lives when we don’t feel like laughing, nor would laughter be appropriate. When we are diagnosed with an illness, when tragedy strikes or when we lose a loved one, sadness, not gladness, results. Grieving is a natural part of our lives and important in the healing process. However, some of the most meaningful Holy Humor can occur during memorial services when friends and family reminisce about the departed, often with a mixture of laughter and tears.

Most of the time, adding laughter to your day brings nothing but benefits. Here are a few “Holy Humor TuneUp Exercises:

• Read, watch and listen. Come up with a good laugh or two every day by watching comedy shows and movies, reading humor columns online or in the newspaper, viewing funny videos, or even enjoying a few comic strips every morning.

• Observe the flow of life itself. We are blessed with a rich diversity of life, much of it very amusing. Watching blue jays in the birdbath or squirrels chasing each other around the trees or watching a dog, cat or young child at play can be more fun and uplifting than watching television.

• Be childlike. “Unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven”. Matthew 18:3 Children laugh a lot more than adults and have fun much more often. Embrace this quality. Laugh and have fun with children.

• Enjoy praying. Joy is spending time enjoying prayer. While dancing, singing, walking or sitting peacefully in silence, you can experience the healing uplifting freedom and flow of the Spirit.

• Give joyfully. “Give and you will receive”. Luke 6:38. Giving time, donations, love, food or whatever with joy will bring delight to your heart and a smile to your face.

As we develop our sense of Holy Humor, we might begin to notice it often manifests as a smile radiating from within that is indicative of being in the flow of Spirit. It’s the smile of one who knows that God loves us just the way we are. ~Excerpts from “Holy Humor” by Rev. Bob Fortner
