Entry Requirements at Level 2

• Science, Health or numerate Social Science subject:

- GCSE grade C in English language and Mathematics

• Humanities or non-numerate Social Science subject:

- GCSE grade C in English language and either Mathematics/Science or equivalent

• Science, Social Science or Humanities:- 160 UCAS tariff points e.g. CC at A level, MM in BTEC National Diploma

• Health:- Requirements vary between disciplines – see sheet

• Educational background and significant/relevant work experience also taken into consideration

• Core modules - Writing skills (10 credits) - Seminar skills (10 credits) - Academic Development (15 credits) - Two broad modules introducing humanities and social sciences (40 credits)

Business Foundation Year

• Core modules - Business and Management (20 credits) - Mathematics and Statistics (25 credits) - Academic Development (15 credits) - Writing Skills (10 credits) - Seminar Skills (10 credits) - Computer Programming & IT (25 credits)

Health Foundation Year• For students without the requisite science

background for direct access to degree honours programmes

• Access to: - Medicine - Nursing

adult, child, mental health or learning disability - Midwifery - Pharmacy - Physiotherapy - Social Work

Progression

• Initially registered for a particular subject • Passing the FY leads to automatic progression• Passing with 120 credits leads to (virtual) Certificate of Foundation Year Studies• In May asked to confirm degree subject(s)• Can change degree programme subject to FY modules taken and course availability (not in Health FY)

• Medicine and PharmacyPass all modules with at least 70%

• PhysiotherapyPass all modules with at least 65%

• MidwiferyPass all modules with at least 60%

• NursingPass all modules with at least 50%

Pass all Chemistry modules with at least 60%

• Biochemistry/Biomedical Sciences Pass all Chemistry modules with at least 60% and

pass all FY modules with an average of 60%

• Biology/Human Biology/Neuroscience Pass all FY modules with an average of 60%

Integrated Programmes

Progression

• Physics/AstrophysicsPass all Physics modules including ‘Numerical Skills for Physics’ and obtain an average of 60% across all Foundation Year modules, with no less than 50% in any module.

• Dual Honours Mathematics Pass all Maths modules with at least 60%

• Single Honours Mathematics Pass all Maths modules with at least 70%

Progression

• Psychology Pass all three Psychology modules with at least 50%

in each. For single honours also obtain an average across all modules of at least 60%.

• Law Pass ‘Introduction to Law’ with at least 55%

• Single Honours English/English and American Literatures/English with Creative Writing

Pass all Foundation Year modules with at least 70%

Integrated Programmes

Progression

• Single Honours History Pass all Foundation Year modules with at least 60%

• Dual Honours History Pass all FY modules with an average of 50% and

least 60% in all History modules

• Single Honours Criminology/SociologyPass all FY modules with at least 70%

General Foundation YearEntry Requirements

• GCSE English grade C / IELTS 5.5 /12 level 2 OCN credits in English (Access to HE)

• Level 2 Maths/Science/Numeracy

Applicants with 80 UCAS tariff points or relevantwork experience may be eligible for interview

General Foundation YearAdditional Information

• Assessment as for integrated programmes• Successful students will be awarded a Certificate of Foundation Year Studies• No guarantee of progression to Keele degrees• Students need to apply through UCAS to universities of their choice• Can be studied full time over one year or part time over two years• Course fees are £5,500 payable in instalments• No student loan or grant available
