Welcome to the Faculty of Business Administration Academic advisors are available in all faculties/colleges at the University of Regina. We are here to assist with your success as a university student. Academic advisors provide invaluable information regarding your academic program, and connect you to other student services available on campus that may help you become a more successful and confident student. We are your first stop when you have questions or problems in a class, if you are finding it difficult to balance your work-school-personal lives, or if you just need a friendly ear. Certainly we can assist with course selection, but more importantly we are your connection to the university system. Group advising sessions will be held closer to your registration date. Information about the dates and times of these sessions will be sent to you by mail and/or email as that date approaches. These sessions will review key pieces of information that will help you understand university expectations, introduce you to key services on campus, and ensure that the classes you want to take are appropriate for your degree program and your long-term educational goals. Individual advising sessions can also be arranged if all of your questions are not addressed at the group sessions. Registering for classes and UR Self - Service – Make sure you accept your offer of admission, as this will give you access to UR Self - Service. First Year CoursesA full course load is 5 courses per

semester (or 10 courses per year).Taking a full course load will ensure that

you complete your degree in 4 years; however, this is not mandatory. Many first

year students take 4 courses in their firstsemester. We can help determine the

best option for you and your situation. These are the required and recommended first

year courses for all Bachelor of BusinessAdministration programs.

SIX REQUIRED COURSES:BUS 100 - Introduction to BusinessCS 100 (or CS 110)ECON 201 (Prerequisite: 15 credit hours, or ECON 100, or Precalculus 20 or Math B30)

ENGL 100MATH 103 -OR- MATH 110

STAT 100

PLUS any FOUR OF THE FOLLOWING:ECON 202 (Prerequisite: 15 credit hours, or ECON 100, Precalculus 20 or Math B30)

up to 3 Introductory Courses from Faculty of Arts List A and/or List B

up to 4 Beyond Intro Courses from Fac of Arts List A and/or List B; or CS, MATH or STAT

1 Open Elective

BUS 100 is a pre-requisite to most other BUS courses. Take it in your first or second semester.

Most students take CS 100 - Introduction to Computers. CS 100 is the easier of these two options. If you prefer CS 110 - Programming & Problem Solving, that is also an acceptable choice; however, please note that CS 110 requires some Math pre-requisites, and is a bit more difficult.

Students often find it easier to manage their course load if they split up the required MATH and STAT courses. We suggest you take one each in two different semesters.

Students usually find ECON 201/202 easier if they take ECON 100 first. ECON 100 will count as one of your three required Introductory Courses from Faculty of Arts List A or B. We also suggest that students do not take ECON 201 and 202 in the same semester.

Faculty of Arts List A & B include the following subjects: Anthropology, Catholic Studies, Classical Studies, Economics, English, Environmental Studies, Geography, Health Studies, History, Humanities, Indian Health Studies, Indigeneous Studies, Intercultural Leadership, Interdisciplinary Studies, International Studies, Linguistics, Philosophy, Political Science, Prairie Studies, Psychology, Religious Studies, Science and Technology Studies, Social Studies, Sociology, Women and Gender Studies, and a variety of Language courses (i.e., French, German, Korean, Japanese, Spanish, etc.)

Introductory courses are those which require no prior university education. Beyond Introductory courses are those which have university-level prerequisites.
