Inclusive Communities

We see the face of God in every child

We deal with every situation individually and ensure the dignity of all involved (child and family)

Our policies and admin procedures appropriately deal with any issue of inclusivity

We don’t see just ‘one thing’ about any child; that is reductionist in nature

Territorial Acknowledgement

We would like to acknowledge that

this Welcome Back to School

celebration at St. William in the

Calgary Catholic School District is

taking place on the traditional

territories of the people of the Treaty

7 region in southern Alberta.

Page 16: Welcome to the 2016-17 School Year! · 2016-17 School Year! ... the history and legacy of residential schools, along with the history of First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples of

The Calgary Catholic School District acknowledges the

need to support First Nation, Metis, and Inuit students, and supports the recommendations made by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

As such, it is our mandate to provide education about the history and legacy of residential schools, along with the history of First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples of Canada.

Ongoing and consistent reference to Treaty 7 acknowledges the importance of our First Nation, Metis and Inuit students, and our role as a district to support their history, culture and success as students.

We will now begin each of our meetings with this acknowledgement following our opening prayer.
