No doubt many of you would have seen in the media the government’s plan for a phased return to school for face-to- face instruction starting in Week 3. Nemingha Public School intends to provide this by teaching one house group per day, as we feel it is the easiest way for families to manage. Phased face-to-face teaching - Week 3 onward Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday MAGPIES EMUS WOMBATS KANGAROOS Children will be able to attend school on the designated days and will be taught in stage groups. Families are encouraged to keep their children away on the other days where possible and essential worker students will be supervised in the library on days that aren’t their “house group” day. Our canteen will not be operating on any of these days so children will need to bring along their own snacks, lunch and drink bottles. Support will still be available for students who are working online at home. Over the holiday break the department made a change to the start of Term 2 with an extra school development day on Tuesday that we were only made aware of last week. I did put messages on SkoolBag and Class Dojo to warn families of these changes. It is essential for families to download these apps onto your phone so you receive up-to-date information. The department posts information on SkoolBag regularly regarding COVID-19, which is another way of keeping abreast of changes to school operations. There is also the DoE website which can be accessed on https://education. nsw.gov.au/covid-19. I would like to thank you all for your support throughout this time and, if all goes well, we will eventually have all our wonderful students, staff and parents back at Nemingha Public School together. CLOTHING POOL UPDATE Renae has had a huge couple of days in the clothing pool. Thank you to all following our new procedures. Online orders will continue to be packed on Monday afternoons - orders due by 2pm and ready to pick up from the office on Tuesdays. They can also be sent home with your child on their rostered day if needed. Just add a note to your order. We will also continue to be open BY APPOINTMENT ONLY during our normal times. Mondays and the first Friday of the month from 2.30pm to 3.30pm. Please text Renae on 0417 029 377 to book a time.

Volleyball court taking shape

Check out the Australian Reptile Park’s Facebook page for their live streams and educational videos ...

Over the school holidays the volleyball court project commenced. This was an initiative by the P&C using artificial grass obtained from the Tamworth Regional Council’s old hockey fields. It will be completed within the next few weeks in time for when more students return to school.

Good for Kids Staying Active at Home

Children should be getting at least 60 minutes of physical activity that makes them ‘huff and puff’ across the day.

Staying active as a family will support your physical and mental health.

Try doing some of these activities together each day:

VIEWS FROM HOME

While ANZAC ceremonies were cancelled this year, the community response to how they commemorated the day certainly ensured the ANZAC spirit continued. Many may become traditions for future years. We asked families to contribute by sending photos in for Newslink so here are some of them.
