· Soft start – 8.40am
· 5 lessons a day
· Reading for 20 minutes each day
· Assembly 3x a week

How do we monitor how well your child is doing?
· Key Stage 1 SATs results used but we also complete baseline assessments within the first few weeks of term.
· Termly Maths Basic Skills Tests / superhero timetables test/ HFW/ AR
· Regular teacher assessments in reading, writing, maths & science
· Regular marking
· Testbase end of year assessments
Targets · Individual targets in Maths and English
· Area (Age related expectation assessment) grids updated throughout the year
· Parent-teacher meetings in October and March.
· Termly report. Mini report in December and March and longer end of year report in July
The Curriculum - Maths
· We set for maths to ensure
children are either stretched
or given appropriate
support.
· Gifted and Talented groups
· Children must be fluent in
times tables
· Basic Skills are essential
The curriculum - Reading
· We allocate dedicated Reading time daily linked to AR
· We use Accelerated Reader to track and engage the pupils with reading.
· Identify struggling readers and interventions put in place
· SEN reading programmes
· Home Readers
· Library
A Broad and Balanced Curriculum
· We teach the full range of National Curriculum subjects in line with the challenging curriculum.
· There is a strong emphasis on phonics and reading in Yr3.
· Sport, the creative arts, health and well being are important aspects of the curriculum.

Inclusion
Not all children will be able to access
the main curriculum without support.
What then?
Homework · Children are expected to read every night with an adult
· Practice Times Table
· Homework clubs
· Previously we have been able to provide the homework books free of charge however as school budgets decrease this is no longer possible.
· We request all parents pay £10 for a spelling book, GPS (Grammar, punctuation and spelling) book and maths book. Buying these through the school significantly reduced the price for parents so we hope you support us with this. A letter will go home at the beginning of September.

not open to children, pupils

Our PE Uniform
· All children are expected to wear PE uniform
· Trainers or plimsolls
· All kit to be kept in a suitable bag
· All clothing must be labelled
School Equipment
Children will need:
· Writing HB pencils
· Rubber
· Sharpener
· Ruler
· Glue Stick Optional:
Scissors/ Purple pen/Felt tips
What you need to do!
· Purchase the uniform (order form in
your pack)
· Discuss the ‘Home School Agreement’
with your child – we all need to be clear
about our responsibilities!
· Discuss the ICT Contract
· Read the Photographs policy
Completing the paperwork · Please read through your
pack.
· Complete all forms
· Emergency contacts
· Return to reception by Friday 6th July (2 weeks)
