Welcome to St. Matthew’s today! November 17, 2013 Everyone is precious in the Lord’s sight. Thank you for blessing us with your presence. “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24, KJV). Introduction for the Day: The end is near. There is no doubt about it. The warnings are dire. The tone of today’s texts is ominous. But the baptized know how to live in the “meantimes.” The baptized are strengthened for the living of these days in word and sacrament. The baptized rally around the invitation of the apostle: “Brothers and sisters, do not be weary in doing what is right.” Please wear a Nametag today: The first and third Sundays when you wear a nametag, you give others the opportunity to know your name. In so doing, we can become better acquainted as a church family. Greet someone new today! Hunger Baskets to be passed today: During the offering, a basket will be passed following the offering plate. The second collection will be directed toward local and world hunger. St. Matthew’s has always had a faithful focus on alleviating hunger in our world, and dedicating this collection on the 1st and third Sundays of each month helps to carry out that commitment. Also much appreciated are food items for Reformation Lutheran Church’s Food Pantry, which can be placed in the collection area in the parking lot entrance. Flowers at the altar are given by Donna and Jim Koeble in memory of their mothers, Yvonne Connelly and Signy Koeble. A library book has been given to the church library by Robert and Heide Hughes in honor of Jameson Dankwardt’s baptismal anniversary. Pizzeria Piccola Fundraiser is THIS SUNDAY! Save your cooking efforts for Thanksgiving, and eat at Pizzeria Piccola on today, November 17th, from 4:00 – 9:00. A portion of all proceeds on that day will be donated to the St. Matthew’s Summer Mission Trip to Washington, D.C., so bring your family in for good food, a good time, and a good cause. The fundraiser also applies to carry-out orders, which can be completely baked or par-baked. Carry-out orders can be phoned in ahead of time. We hope to see YOU there!

If you can help us reach our goal of $20,000, please make a check to St. Matthew’s, and designate it for “El Salvador Food Shipment.”
