Welcome to Room 51 There are 3 things for you to do before we start our presentation! 1. Please check our class phone list to make sure it is accurate. It is on the front white board. Initial it so I know you saw it! 2. Please leave a note for your child telling them what a fabulous year they are going to have, how excited you are for them, how much they are going to learn, etc… Leave your note on their name tag for them to find in the morning. They will love it! (and love that you sat at their spot!) 3. There is a half sheet of paper on your table. Create a Circle Map (just like your child does!). Write 2 nd Grade on the inner circle. In the outer circle, write as many things as you can to define second grade and the things we will be learning! Frame it telling how you know what you know! 2 2 n d 2 nd grade

AZ College & Career Ready Standards

•Aligned with college and work expectations

•Rigorous content and application of knowledge through high-order skills

•Informed by other top-performing countries so that all students are prepared to succeed in a global economy and society

where they live, will be focused on graduating from high school.

•In an increasingly mobile society, families with children

transferring to new schools will not have to adjust to new learning

expectations.

• Standards will be the same for all students in states adopting

them, making transitions smoother for students.

• All students must be prepared to compete with not only their

American peers in the next state, but with students from around

the world

oAZ Merit Assessment will administered to students

beginning in 3rd grade. This assessment will be based
