ABOUT ABERDEEN

Aberdeen is Scotland’s third most populous city with a total estimated population of 218,000. It is a diverse, multicultural, student friendly city, with people from around the world coming to live, study and work here because of our position as the Oil and Gas capital of Europe.

To keep the population entertained, you’ll find lots of cafes, bars, nightclubs, cinemas, restaurants, shops and malls nearby which means although it is a small city it is packed full of things to see and do. If you are an adrenaline fan and the outdoors is more your thing, surfing, kayaking, mountain climbing, snowboarding and white water rafting are also all within reach of the city.

WHY STUDY IN SCOTLAND?

Did you know that Scotland has more world class universities per head of population than anywhere else in the world? With 19 world class institutions, Scotland’s university sector offers unparalleled quality and choice. We are proud to offer the highest rates of student satisfaction in quality of teaching in all of Britain. Scotland’s universities offer their graduates the highest rate of employment or further study in the whole of the United Kingdom.

As a country, Scotland has a rich diverse history and culture which differs considerably from the rest of the UK. Many Malaysian students who choose to study in Scotland become the envy of their friends because of the warm welcome they receive when they become part of our community.

I chose RGU because it is famous in my home country, Malaysia, for having a well-recognised Quantity Surveying course. I have had a great time studying at RGU - I love everything about it here. I have really welcomed the assistance they have given me with overcoming language and cultural barriers.

I have been lucky to get to travel all over the UK whilst completing my studies; however I am yet to find somewhere I like as much as Aberdeen! The local people here are so friendly.
