WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL

Silverline Private School opened its doors to pupils in December 2011.

Situated in a leafy Limassol suburb, we are a young, dynamic co-educational school, thriving in our purpose-built, brand new, state-of-the-art premises.

We offer an academically stimulating, challenging and secure educational environment, where pupils can develop confidence and self-belief, and where their individual talents and skills are nurtured and respected.

We are extremely proud of all that our children achieve in this small, friendly and busy school.

As a parent choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will ever have to make.

Words and pictures can only provide a small insight into life at Silverline Private School. Our school open door policy welcomes all visitors to Silverline, where we hope you will experience in person the unique learning environment our students enjoy.

“I have watched the growth of Silverline School from its inception to the present day and have been impressed by the commitment of the school management team to the professional development of their staff. The teachers not only have the highest expectations of their pupils but they also genuinely care for them. I have seen teaching of the highest calibre in this school and teachers who are committed to providing the best possible learning experience for the children in their charge and enabling each individual to achieve their maximum potential.”

Dr Hazel Agnew, PGCE Course Director, Buckingham University

At Silverline, the quality of education is not simply defined in terms of examination grades; we encourage students to be creative and flexible thinkers, nurturing young pupils to become well rounded, independent adults who not only respect themselves but appreciate and value those around them.

Small class sizes allow teachers to focus on the needs of every student, in lessons designed to be stimulating and challenging. Their energetic, innovative approach means children are engaged in an atmosphere where they can acquire and sharpen all the skills necessary for successful independent learning.

At Silverline every student can shine; every pupil is able to make their own unique contribution to the ethos of the school. This special environment creates an ambience and community where boys and girls are encouraged to pursue their personal talents, whilst always developing a sensitive understanding of their peer group.

Students here enjoy their learning environment and choose to participate fully in all aspects of the educational experience, something that is clearly demonstrated by the close and caring relationships engendered between staff, students and parents.

EARLY YEARS – DEVELOPING YOUNG MINDS

Learning through play is central to the philosophy behind teaching young minds. The school premises and child-friendly spacious outdoor areas facilitate exploration and adventure in safe, well organised activities, easily adaptable for both indoor and outdoor learning tasks.

Having the benefit of external play areas encourages young learners to understand how to work and explore within boundaries whilst giving them a greater sense of freedom and opportunity at the same time. Learning to appreciate their environment, the seasons and the natural world around them, helps young learners develop an awareness of life beyond classroom walls, an important lesson as they mature.

The Junior School building houses kindergarten, infants and junior classes in the comfortably light, airy and spacious purpose-built premises. This safe, welcoming environment is as inviting as it is stimulating for young learners, who have easy access to their dedicated playground and outdoor activities area.

Happy, active and nurtured children are able to play safely as they expand their boundaries. Through small class sizes and dedicated, caring staff, the love of learning begins early at Silverline and continues throughout the student’s lifetime.

Silverline Primary School has the advantage of its own buildings and playgrounds, yet also benefits from access to the extensive facilities of the Senior School which is situated on the same site.

The National Curriculum based education prepares pupils for Secondary School in a holistic environment, where skilled classroom teachers and external specialists contribute to the lessons being taught side by side.

The curriculum stretches pupils academically, it also enables pupils to develop their individual talents and interests and make excellent progress in sport, music and the arts, whilst learning the essential lessons of taking initiative, working as a team and the art of collaboration.

Drama, ICT, PE, Swimming, Music and Modern Foreign Languages are all available to Primary School students. Learning support is provided for pupils who require assistance to develop and maximise their full potential.

PRIMARY SCHOOL - FREEDOM TO DEVELOP“I want to thank you and your excellent staff for making me feel welcome at Silverline. It was an honour to open your library. I thoroughly enjoyed the day, and have nothing but praise for your enthusiastic and delightful children.” visiting author, Jonathan Ayre

SECONDARY SCHOOL - PREPARING FOR THE FUTURE

In the Secondary School, Silverline students are taught a broad, balanced and challenging curriculum in small class sizes where the individual’s potential is accessed through highly skilled tutors.

The close personal attention, specialist teaching practice, advanced education resources and facilities on offer at Silverline, mean students have everything necessary to be able to achieve academic success during their school career and realise their full potential.

A diverse subject range is offered at examination level, with guidance and counselling to ensure students are given every opportunity to follow a specially tailored programme of study, suitable to their aspirations. Classroom dialogue and discussion is encouraged and students are given freedom to explore and question, enabling them to flourish in a supported environment where they are respected and show respect in turn.

We are proud of the academic achievements attained by our secondary school students, but we are equally proud that they are well adjusted, confident and mature young adults ready to embark on their future and well equipped to embrace all life has to offer.

A FAMILY AFFAIR - FRIENDS FOR LIFE

“Small in size, but great in warmth, teaching staff, support and integration.”

Silverline enjoys a very special partnership between its staff, students and parents. Recognising the crucial role parents play as their child’s first educator, we actively encourage your contribution to our school; we believe this dynamic relationship is an integral element of the School’s success.

A school can only thrive when children, parents and staff work together as a powerful and cohesive team, where communication and support are actively encouraged and respected. Silverline does both; it is a family school where students enjoy being part of an expanding family.

Due to small class sizes, the form teacher is able to develop a close understanding and relationship with each student, ensuring their welfare and progress can be carefully monitored. The school’s open door policy means teachers are readily available to meet for an informal chat should they have any concerns. Additionally, two formal parent teacher evenings are held annually and written reports sent home twice a year.

At school, students will become a member of one of 4 ‘Houses’ represented by: Plato, Aristotle, Pericles and Hippocrates, encouraging strong values of leadership, team spirit and healthy competition among the pupils, through a variety of social activities and occasions at the school.

“We want the best for our children so we chose Silverline Private School.”“Exceptional teaching staff and an exceptional school ethos mean children are happy and willing to work hard. What parent could ask for more?” PTA chairperson Jo Clarke, parent of Year 5 & Year 10 pupils

CREATIVITY - GROWING IN CONFIDENCE“A high standard of education and invaluable after-school support; we are very happy!” parents of Year 6 pupil

Music, Drama and Sport are strong at Silverline. Many pupils are learning to play an instrument, with regular assemblies, school celebrations, music and drama productions organised during the term to give aspiring stars the chance to shine.

Regular meetings and inter-school competitions take place in a range of sports. School excursions, educational visits and residential trips abroad are an integral part of the school’s holistic approach to offering an extensive and varied curriculum that will enrich the student’s lives.

After school provision and holiday clubs are available and operate during the Easter and Summer holidays offering safe, fun, entertainment and recreation to young learners.

Encouraging students to be creative and flexible thinkers, as well as confident and rounded, fulfilled individuals, is as important as striving for academic excellence. At Silverline, an extensive extra-curricular programme of after school clubs and activities offers students the opportunity to let their natural talent and enthusiasm shine. All activities are supervised by teaching staff and assistants within the school premises at the end of the normal working day, providing the extra benefit of an extended school day for busy working parents.

For students, this is the perfect opportunity to stretch their horizons beyond academic learning; whether through sport, music, art, crafts, drama or sciences; happy, healthy and active children go on to become successful and fulfilled adults.

We are committed to the development of the whole child so the extra curricular activities offered at Silverline are an integral and vital part of everyday life.
