WELCOME TO MUSIC AT ALL SAINTS’

All Saints’ Music Guild is pleased to present our 2015-2016 season of great music at All Saints’.

From ancient music to premières of modern works, both sacred and secular, at All Saints’ you will find an exciting variety of ways to experience the beauty of holiness through music. We invite you to join us for our special choral services and con-certs.

In addition to our Sunday morning service of Choral Eucharist at 10:00 a.m., the choirs of All Saints’ offer a wide variety of opportunities to worship amid the sacred sounds of great choral music of the ages, especially music of the Anglican/American choral tradition.

Some of these offerings are:

CHORAL EVENSONG The most uniquely Anglican of services, Evensong offers the opportunity to worship in meditation and prayer, as led by the choir. Music features sung prayers, glorious settings of the canticles and psalms, and hymns and anthems. These services are followed by a reception and the opportunity for fellowship.

MISSA MYSTICA Throughout the liturgical year, the choirs mark many of the major feast days with choral settings of the Holy Eucharist.

On these occasions the choir offers great settings of the Mass, from Palestrina and Byrd, to Mozart and Haydn, to modern settings, on behalf of the congregation. These services offer a special time for contemplation and reflection.

SERVICES IN THE STYLE OF TAIZÉ Amid the glow of a candlelit chapel, these quiet, occasional Wednesday evening services offer a unique way to worship. The service includes chants from the Taizé community, and other traditions, as well as readings and periods of silence.

CONCERTS Special occasions to encounter the transcendent in monumental works of choral and instrumental art. Because these works require performing forces that surpass normal liturgical limitations, admission fees apply for concerts only (except for All Saints’ Music Guild donors with season passes).

We look forward to welcoming you to All Saints!

England, Summer 2017All Saints’ Choir has been invited to sing in residence at two of the most famous seats of the Anglican choral tradition in England: Wells Cathedral and Salisbury Cathedral.

The Choir will sing the daily services of Evensong, as well as the principal Sunday morning services, for one week in each location during the month of August, 2017. It is anticipated that parishioners may be afforded the opportunity to join the trip as “choir pilgrims,” as well.

SPRING CONCERTFriday, April 22 at 8:00pm

Mozart: Great Mass in C Minor, K. 427All Saints’ Choir & Orchestra

The Mass in C minor is a solemn mass written on the grandest scale, with the Gloria and Credo treated like a cantata in being divided into a succession of individual arias and choruses. Mozart’s interest in the works of Handel is reflected in the baroque textures of several of the choral movements, which are unlike anything in his previous sacred music written for Salzburg, and echoed in parts of the Requiem nearly a decade later. Left unfinished, it is nonetheless one of his greatest works.

Tickets: $25 adults / $15 students & seniors. Admission free with Music Guild donor season pass.

J. S. Bach Klavierübung Project

In the fall of 2014, internationally renown harpsichordist Kathleen McIntosh, longtime friend of music at All Saints’, approached us with the idea for monumental undertaking – a presentation of J. S. Bach’s complete Klavierübung in a series of concerts, which she described as a “Mt. Everest” undertaking.

We are very pleased to bring this ambitious project to fruition, as part of our Chamber Music at All Saints’ series, in five consecutive programs in November. McIntosh will be joined by organist, Ron McKean, and harpsichordist, Janine Johnson, in presenting these ambitious programs that include some of Bach’s greatest keyboard works. The Klavierübung is comprised of four volumes which include Vol. 1: the Six Partitas; Vol. 2: the Italian Concerto and French Overture; Vol. 3: the German Organ Mass, (which includes the “St. Anne” Prelude and Fugue, 21 chorale preludes and 4 duets); and Vol. 4: the Goldberg Variations. Please see the calendar listing for full details, and plan to join us for this exciting series!
