Behavior/Skills Classroom behavior and work policy is based on positive

reinforcement (PBS, Comets, Comet Pride, etc.) Misbehavior and missing work will have consequences such as

missing fun events to get caught up. If this becomes a constant occurrence, then parents will be contacted to meet and discuss the issue so that we can get your student back on track.

We spend much of the day moving and learning, so it is vital that your child comes into kindergarten with the following skills in place so that we can maximize learning time:

- focusing for an extended amount of time (10 min.)- follow 2 step oral directions- turn taking; waiting for his/her turn- not shouting out

Other important life skills to practice before kindergarten include:- zipping and buttoning coats/pants- tying shoes- cleaning up work areas- bathroom etiquette (washing hands, flushing, etc.)

Homework/Materials There will be homework every night and we will keep

an on-going record, so please remember that homework is not optional. This will help students build good habits and a sense of responsibility for future grades.

Set up a homework area at home and be sure to stick to a consistent routine

Kindergarten is an important year for students to learn many important skills and practice them through homework. We appreciate your help in reinforcing and helping your child practice these skills, after the school day has ended.

Be sure that your child is prepared with all needed materials before coming to school for the day (homework folders, backpacks, library books, forms, etc.)
