WelcometoDroitwichGolfClub.DroitwichGolfClubisover100yearsold.Ithasastronghistory,withawellestablishedcoursecomplementedbyexcellentclubhouse facilities.

Droitwichisafriendlyandwelcomingclub.Atjustunder6,000yardsformenand5,300yardsforladies,thepar70courseprovidesbothaninterestingyetchallengetestforallabilities.TheClubiswellrespectedandinthepasthashostedboth theWorcestershiremen’sandladies’countychampionships, aswellanEnglishLadiesGolfAssociationnationalevent.Itisalsoapopularvenueforsocietieswhoenjoy thestrongpackageoflocation,courseandcateringthattheCluboffers.

Formembers,DroitwichhasaveryactiveMen’s, Ladies,JuniorsandSenior sectionswithmembersbeingabletoenjoyregularcompetitions, teamgolf forallabilities,socialandmixedgolf.Wehaveadiversemembership intermsofageandability,withtheopportunity toenjoycompetitiveorsocialgolfthroughout theweek.

Handicaps

TransferringyourhandicaptoDroitwich:Ifyouhaveacurrentcompetitionhandicapthenyoucangetthistransferredovertoourdatabase,allyouneed todoiscontacteitherthesecretary/managerwithyourCDHnumber.

GettingaHandicap:Ifyoudonothaveahandicapwhenyoujoinwewillhelpyouobtainone.Todothisyoumustcompleteatotalof54holesofgolf.Thiscanbeanycombinationof9or18holecardsbutmusttotal54.9holecardscanonlybecompletedoverthefront9asthisisadesignatedcourseforthispurpose.Eachtimeyousubmitacardforhandicappurposesyouwillneedtoplaywithsomeonewhohasa‘competitionhandicap’, theywillneedtomarkacardforyouandthenbothofyousignitbeforesubmitting it.Thecardneedstohaveyourname,thedateandalso‘ForHandicap’markedatthetop.Whenitiscompletedputitinthecompetitionsboxinthecorridor.Amemberofthemen’scompetitionscommitteeortheladies’handicapsecretarywillthenallocateyourhandicapandadviseyouwhatitis.

PlayingCompetitiveGolfatDroitwich

Toentercompetitionsyoumusthavea‘competition handicap’.Ifyourhandicapis‘non-competition’ thenyoucanplayincompetition roundsandusethesecardstoputtowardsre-activatingyourhandicap.Ifyouhaveanyquestionsaboutyourhandicap,wanttoknowhowtoobtainorupdateit,thenspeaktoamemberofthemen’scompetitioncommittee,theladieshandicapsecretaryortheclubprofessional.Startsheetsforcompetitionsareavailableonthecomputerlocatedinthecorridor leadingtothelockerrooms.Toenteracompetition, typeinyoursurnameorswipeyourcardandfollowtheinstructionsonthescreen.Competitionsonthecomputer systemcanalsobeaccessedonlineviawww.howdidido.com todothisyouneedtoregisterwiththewebsiteandhaveyouruniquepersonalverificationcodeavailable(canbefoundonthebottomofyourhandicapcertificate).Forallcompetitionspleasesign inintheproshopon theday.

Mens Golf

Throughout theyear,weplayanumberofmedal,stableford andbogeycompetitions.CompetitionsareplayedonthefirstThursdayandoneitherSaturdayorSundayofthelastweekendofthemonth.TrophycompetitionsareplayedoneitherSaturdayorSundays.Thefullcompetitionschedule fortheyearcanbefound intheclubdiaryorontheweb-site,thereisalsoamatrixwhichgivesinformationonallthecompetitionsandtrophiesonthecompetitionsnoticeboard inthecorridoroutsidethemens lockerroom.

Eachcompetitionhasitsownentryfeepayableonthedayofthecompetition.Foreachcompetitionwealsorunanoptional ‘ballsweep’and‘twos’ competitionwhichisalsopayableonthedayofthecompetition.Throughout theyeartherearealsoanumber ofknockoutcompetitionsandsocialcompetitions, information forthesecanbefoundonthecompetitionsnoticeboard throughout theyear.

EachyearDroitwichentersanumberofmen’steamsintolocalleagues.TheA,B,CandHandicapLeagueTeamboardscanbefound inthecorridor leading tolockerroomswherethereismoreinformation andcontactdetailsifyouareinterestedinsigningup.

CompetitionsThroughout theyearweplayanumberofcompetitions, theseincludeEnglandGolfmedals,clubstablefords,9holecompetitions, nationalqualifying competitionsandothertrophycompetitions.The9&18holemedal,stableford andnationalqualifying competitionsareevenlydistributedbetweenTuesdaysandweekends.Ourtrophycompetitions aremainlyscheduledonTuesdays.Thefull competitionscheduleisdetailedonamonthlybulletin.Thisexplainsexactlyhowtoentereachoneandcanbefound intheladieslocker roomonthecompetitionsnoticeboard.Themajorityofladymembersplayeither9or18holesonTuesdaymornings, teeingoff from8.15am.Dependingonnumbersandthecompetition, playisingroupsoftwo,threeorfour.Thisisagreatwaytomeetotherplayersandgettoknowmembers.Anannualcompetition feeispayableatthestartof theplayingseason.Thisentitlesentryintoarangeofcompetitions. Inaddition tothis,somecompetitions arepaidforonthedayasthesearenotcoveredbytheannualcompetition fee.Thereareafewcompetitionswhereweraisemoney forcertaincharities.Along withthesecompetitionswealsohavemanyknockoutswhichrunthroughout theseason.

LadiesGolf

FriendlyWeplayfriendly ladiesmatches,homeandawayagainstseveralclubsinthearea.Listsareonthenoticeboardandyouareverywelcometosignup.Atthemorecompetitivelevel,ourladiesplayintheDroitwichInterClubLeagueandtheMidlandsScratchLeague.

Funcompetitions aremainlyrun through thewintermonths.Toenterthesecompetitionssimplysignuponthecomputer socialtimesheetandbringalongtheentryfee(usually50por£1.00)onthedayofthecompetition.

ThursdayRollUpisaninformal9-holestableford competition.Thenormalmeetingtimeforthisis9.30am.Thereisnoneedtosignupinadvanceforthis,justturnupreadytoplaywithyour50pentryfee.Teamsofthreeplayersaredrawnrandomly, thismakesitagreatwaytoplaygolfwithnewmembers.Playersusuallystayforlunchafterwards.

TheClubhouse facilitiesaresituatedinWestfordHousewhichwasbuiltin1830asaprivateresidence.Thebuilding hashadnumerous uses,including beingusedasaRedCrosshospitalintheGreatWar,untilbeing takenoverbythegolf clubin1924.Theclubhousehasbeensympatheticallyextendedandimprovedoverrecentyearsandhouseschanging roomsandaspikebarontheground floor.Upstairsprovides theclubLoungebarandRestaurantwithfineviewsovertheeasternpartofthecourse.

UpstairsLounge

Theupstairsloungeanddining roomarecomfortably furnished, withareasfordancing, relaxingordining, whilsttakingintheviewsofthecourse.Seatingonthefirstfloorbalconygivesviewsofthe9thand18thgreenswhilstenjoying lightrefreshmentsprovided fromtheloungebarandkitchen.Theareacanbepartitionedoff toprovideadiningareacapableofseatingupto50peopleoropened uptoprovide forlargerfunctions, cateringforapproximately110people
