The major rivers include the Chang Jiang (Yangtze River) and Huang He (Yellow River).

The Yangtze River (or, "Changjiang"in Chinese, literally, the "long river"),is the longest river in China, running6,300 kilometers (3915 miles). It isalso the third longest river in theworld. Its basin, extending for some2,000 miles from west to east and formore than 600 miles from north tosouth, drains a huge area in SouthChina. The Yangtze also carries morewater than any other river in China.
