Title 1 FundsOur reading program is supported by New York State Title 1 Funds.
In the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns, Title 1 Funds are used at John Paulding School to support our reading teacher, Ms. Adams. Ms. Adams provides support services for students who are in danger of not meeting NYS Common Core Standards for entry into Grade 1.
Students are added to reading groups with Ms. Adams for a variety of reasons:
● Reading/Language assessments throughout the year (Fall/Winter/Spring)● Classroom teacher observations
Ms. Adams will be in contact with you if services are needed.
DASAThe Dignity Act of New York State Education Law regarding instruction in civility, citizenship, and character education by expanding the concepts of tolerance, respect for others and dignity to include: an awareness and sensitivity in the relations of people, including but not limited to, different races, weights, national origins, ethnic groups, religions, religious practices, mental or physical abilities, sexual orientations, gender identity, and sexes.

Classroom
Attendance● Attendance and promptness are fundamental to
your child’s learning and overall success.● Daily school attendance provides your child with an
optimal opportunity for learning and helps to develop his/her sense of responsibility and follow through that will be valuable throughout his/her life.
● The school day begins at 8:55 am. Arriving promptly at school ensures that no instruction is missed, his/her routines are maintained, and good work habits are promoted.
Dismissal Procedures● Buses and Vans load in the front circle of the building
and on the side of our building● Please do not park in the bus circle/parking lot from
3:00-3:45 PM● Walkers dismiss from our “walker room” AKA our
Music/Art Room at 3:25 PM; not through the main entrance
● For safety reasons, we do not allow any visitors into the building from 3:00-3:30 pm to ensure a secure dismissal
● Changes in dismissal should be in writing and given to your child’s teacher in the morning. Calls to the office to change dismissal plans should be made prior to 2:15 PM
