EARLY ARRIVALS
Whilst we cannot guarantee access to our guest rooms & suites before the 3pm
check-in time, we will happily place your baggage into safe keeping
and take to your room or suite at the earliest opportunity.
For guests arriving early, we recommend booking a light lunch at La Locanda del
Borgo or relaxing massage at Aqua Spa.
Guests may use our Spa, pools, steam room and sauna from 3pm - 9pm on the day
of arrival and from 9am-10.30am on the morning of departure.
On weekends, guests are invited to book their Spa session in advance, each
guest having two hours per day.

AREA & HISTORY
Sannio's turbulent history stretches back into the distant past, the earliest written
record of the Samnite people, generally believed to be of Umbrian origin, is a treaty
with the Romans from 354 BC, which set their border at today's Liri river.
The Sannio region was once a much larger, mainly apennine region comprising
much of Umbria as well as today's Sannio territory, which mainly consists of the
province of Benevento. It has been at various points invaded or controlled by the
Greeks, the Samnites of which there were four main tribes, the Romans, Goths,
Byzantines, Longobards, Normans, the Papal States, the Kingdom of the two
Sicilies and the Royal house of Savoy, each leaving their mark on our
landscape and population.

HISTORICAL TOWNS
Within a short drive, undiscovered delights, some of Italy’s most beautiful ancient
towns; Sant’Agata dei Goti, Cusano Mutri, Guardia Sanframondi (now the home to a
large community of American and British artists and writers), Cerreto Sannita and San
Lorenzello, famous for its ceramicists.
Depending on the timing of your stay, our team will happily advise of the best places
to visit, their markets, local delicacies and celebratory feasts.
CAMPANIA
Aquapetra is just 60km by car from the beautiful, vibrant bay of Naples, watched
over by Mt. Vesuvius. Naples is a must see for its myriad attractions, from the busy
streets, to its castles, museums, catacombs, exclusive boutiques and wonderful
restaurants.
From Naples, it is just a short trip to the islands of Procida, Ischia and Capri.
The spectacular Amalfi coast is 70km from Aquapetra by car, the beautiful towns of
Sorrento, Positano, and Amalfi, clinging to the vertiginous rocky bluffs.

RISTORANTE
LOCANDA DEL BORGO Located just off the main square of Aquapetra, the Locanda del Borgo restaurant
serves impeccable Michelin starred contemporary cuisine in a relaxed yet modern
environment. Spread over four levels, it comprises three main dining rooms, a bar
and conservatory as well a a private chef's table for groups of up to twenty guests.
Our kitchen has been led by Chef, Luciano Villani since 2010, rising star and winner of
the 2018 Liverini prize, awarded by the prestigious Guida della Reppublica, to the
chef whose cuisine best expresses and elevates local produce.

From our prized Marchiggiana Sannita beef and Laticauda lamb, white truffles and
much loved local cheeses, Mozzarella di Bufala Campania, Caciocavallo Silano,
Pecorino di Laticauda Sannita to our delicious yellow Datterini tomatoes and
superlative wines, the Sannio territory is renowned for the excellence of its produce,
its many micro-climates, the extended spring and summer seasons, purity of its air
and the exceptionally fertile, mineral rich terroir.
In every dish, Luciano celebrates the finest seasonal DOP, IGT and organic produce
that our gardens and the wider Sannio have to offer, each ingredient clearly
distinguishable within each balanced combination.
DIETARY REQUIREMENTS
We pay minute attention to the quality of the ingredients we use at Aquapetra,
believing strongly that a happy tummy is the foundation of person's wellbeing.
Please let us know if you have any specific dietary requirements. We are more than
happy to tailor our menu or create new dishes especially for you.
CELLAR
Our selection stems in the main, from our great love of the indigenous grapes and
vintages that represent the history and traditions of our territory and country.
All of our wines, regional or international, are tasted and enjoyed, before being
chosen for our cellar, where they rest at their optimum ambient temperature and
atmospheric conditions.
Just a short distance from Aquapetra, we cultivate a variety of grapes and make our
own wines (Greco di Tufo, Aglianico, Taurasi), just a few of the many wines that we
currently hold in our cellar, alongside Italy's most sought after vintages.

KITCHEN GARDENS
Our 1,500 olive trees provide our restaurant with delicious extra virgin oil and we take
great pride in our heady liquors and scrumptious peach, plumb and apricot
preserves, made in accordance with time honoured recipes and the passing of the
seasons.
In 2018, we look forward to commencing work on a series of greenhouses ad open
air kitchen gardens, a big step towards becoming fully self-sufficient in terms of fruit,
vegetables and herbs. An olive oil Frantoio and wine press will follow.
The greenhouses will be open for guests to wander through the scented plots and if
they wish, join our green fingered team for the daily pick and prune.
