What do e-Portfolios represent?

“e-Portfolios focus on growth & development over time; they can be seen as concrete representations of critical thinking & reflection of skills & achievements;

implemented through the selection of evidence for goal setting and self evaluation..”

(Barrett, 1999, 2000)

Who can we share the e-Portfolio with? What are we assessing? What is the purpose?

• 4. What does the diagram to the right suggest to you about a learner centered approach?

• 5. How can these be shared?  What is now being shared with-in a digitized format?

Technology enables students to collect & organize more effectively.

• Through the use of technology, learners can use tools to record their progress over time.

• "A culture of evidence asks learners to think more deeply about learning to show what they have learned rather than simply choose an answer from a list of multiple choice options.” (Barrett)

Define the Need:

• This is the most important part of the process.

• This is where you would define the difference between what is really happening (is) & what you wish would be happening (should).

Performance: Should / Is

Should:• 100% complete an e-

Portfolio;• Each learner has

“artifacts” for the 3 categories;

• 100% goals met as set out by learner/facilitator;

• Receive credit for completing an e-Portfolio
